Week 7 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Over the last 4 seasons, I’ve averaged a 65% win percentage, which means that’s now eleven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate. Last year, I also was 95% on my Lock of the Week (20-1) and 50% on my Upset of the Week (10-10).  But that was the past, and this is now, and I’m shooting for twelve years in a row for my picks and Locks!

In Week 6, I had a decent 7-7 leaving me 51-41 for the season.

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 7…

Lock of the Week ➡ Houston Texans (-10.0) over New York Giants

I’ve been taking some chances lately on my Lock of the Week, but no longer.  I’m taking the Houston Texans this week to beat a New York Giants team who will be changing quarterbacks before a difficult road game.  From Weeks 4 through 6, the Texans went 2-1, averaged 30.0 points and surrendered 22.7 per game, while the Giants went 1-1-1 and surrendered 28.3 per game; more importantly, C.J. Stroud has played some of the best football of his career during that stretch, completing 71.7% of his passes for 920 yards, six touchdowns and only one interception—a 116.6 passer rating—capped by 312 yards and three touchdowns in Houston’s Week 6 win over Jacksonville.  McCarthy certainly deserves credit for his strong fourth quarter against New Orleans, when he came off the bench and threw for 243 yards and a touchdown while directing three scoring drives, but Sunday will be his first start for the Giants—and it will come in Houston—after an inconsistent 2025 season in Minnesota in which he completed just 57.6% of his passes with 11 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 72.6 passer rating.  That inconsistent performance helped prompt Minnesota to sign Kyler Murray, who won the 2026 starting job and relegated McCarthy to the bench before the Vikings traded him to New York in September.  Stroud, meanwhile, now has a healthy Nico Collins, the long-awaited return of Tank Dell, an ascending Jaylin Noel coming off a 107-yard, one-touchdown performance, and recently acquired Marvin Harrison Jr.—Stroud’s former Ohio State teammate and the fourth overall pick in the 2024 draft—giving Houston too many explosive options for a Giants team that has surrendered 85 points over its last three games.  Lock in the Texans.

Upset of the Week ➡ Cincinnati Bengals (+2.5) over Baltimore Ravens

In Weeks 4 and 5—before Cincinnati’s Week 6 bye—Joe Burrow completed 62 of 86 passes (72.1%) for 618 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions, following a 428-yard performance against Jacksonville with four touchdowns and no turnovers in a 31–24 victory over Miami; Tee Higgins totaled 13 catches for 179 yards during those games, while Ja’Marr Chase returned to form against Miami with six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown.  Neither Chase nor Higgins appears on Cincinnati’s Week 7 injury report, so Burrow should have both elite receivers healthy together after the bye.  Baltimore, by contrast, scored 24, 30 and then just 10 points from Weeks 4 through 6; with Tyler Huntley starting, the offense swung from 391 total yards in the overtime win over Atlanta to only 235 yards in the loss to Cleveland, while the defense went from allowing 367 yards to Atlanta to 237 against Cleveland—dramatic fluctuations that illustrate the Ravens’ inconsistency on both sides of the ball.  Lamar Jackson may return after practicing Thursday, but the Ravens acknowledge that he still has substantial work to do before he can play, and his first game back from an ankle injury doesn’t change my perspective against a rested and healthy Cincinnati team.  Cincinnati’s defense has also improved from last year, moving from allowing 28.9 points per game in 2025 to just 21.8 through five games this season while recording 17 sacks.  I wouldn’t be surprised here with the Bengals pulling the upset.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

New Orleans vs. Pittsburgh: Not sure about the wisdom of playing in France during protests just as I am not sure about the wisdom of picking the hit and miss Saints. They trailed 10-0 last week then scored 34 points in a row, then nearly blew a huge lead to J.J. McCarthy. That said I am buying their offense a lot more than Pittsburgh’s right now. So I am taking New Orleans

Miami at the N.Y. Jets: The Dolphins had a week off and what were the Jets doing? What they usually do, finding a way to lose. Before the bye the Dolphins have been fairly competitive against better teams than the Jets. This is the week Miami finally does it!

Cincinnati at Baltimore: Taking another team coming off a bye against a Ravens outfit that has changed coaches and still has the same problems. And if Lamar Jackson doesn’t play then the Bengals are the better team on both sides of the ball (never thought I’d say that). I’ll take Cincinnati.
