Week 2 Games
Ha Kung Wong’s Picks
Ha Kung’s Thoughts:
After a 64.7% record four seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) three seasons ago and 63.4% (180-104) two seasons ago, I ended up at a whopping 68.8% last season, my best season yet. So that’s ten years in a row with over a 60% pick rate. I also had 84% right for Locks of the Week (16-3) and 44.4% for Upsets of the Week (8-10), so not only did I meat my 2023 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have ten years in a row of Locks being over 70%. But that was the past, and this is now, and I’m shooting for eleven in a row for both!
Last week I went 11-5, hitting my Lock but (just) missing my Upset. Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 2…
Lock of the Week ➡ Buffalo Bills (-6.5) over New York Jets
The Bills played an instant classic against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football and we saw, again, why Josh Allen was MVP last year. He’s basically a one-man wrecking machine who managed to put up 17 points in just 4 minutes and 48 seconds for a 1 point come from behind win against what might be the second-best team in the NFL. The Jets looked way better than we all thought they would be, but a 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers carved them up for 4 TDs so I’m fairly certain Allen can do the same. Lock in the Bills.
Upset of the Week ➡ Indianapolis Colts (+2.0) over Denver Broncos
The Broncos didn’t look bad in Week 1, but they weren’t dominant against a completely overmatched Titans team. The Colts, on the other hand, destroyed the Dolphins in what might be the biggest surprise of the week, with cast-off Daniel Jones scoring on every possession, the first QB to do that back to 1991. I don’t know if the Colts are for real, but they sure look the part, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this upset.

George’s Picks
George’s Thoughts:
Jacksonville at Cincinnati: Yes the Bengals finally won in week 1. But that was only because the Cleveland kicker blew an extra point and a makeable winning field goal. Cincinnati gained only 141 yards and was outgained by over 180 yards! Jacksonville’s offense is off to a good start under new wunderkind coach Liam Coen and Travis Hunter will make a big impact on both sides of the ball this week. Take the Jaguars.
Chicago at Detroit: In the aftermath of the Vikings comeback in the fourth quarter is that for 3 quarters things went beautifully for Chicago. There defense was improved and stopping Minnesota and Caleb Williams avoided the big mistakes. That formula is exactly what they need to win at the Lions who were just plain bad last week and might be broken by the loss of Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. Chicago pulls the upset.
Atlanta at Minnesota: And speaking of Minnesota the hysteria is over the top. J.J. McCarthy’s great 4th quarter doesn’t completely erase the bad first 3 quarters. And the Falcons were a missed field goal away from overtime against the Bucs who are an NFC contender. Fade the McCarthy/Vikings hysteria and take Atlanta!
Eliminator pick: Baltimore
