Waiver Favors™: 2023 Week 7 Fantasy Football Pickups

As I do every year over the last 11 years, I’m here to help with waiver wire adds via my weekly Waiver Favors™ article!  And I’m assuming if you’re reader right now, you’re in your fantasy football playoffs, so congratulations!

I’ll make a couple suggestions for after Week 7 of the 2023 fantasy football season that hopefully will keep your team running.  You’re welcome.  Again.

As usual, all pickups are available in at least 50% of Yahoo standard fantasy football leagues (with some minor exceptions) as of Sunday evening.

Darrell Henderson

RB – Los Angeles Rams – 24% Owned

With Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers on IR, everyone initially thought that Zach Evans would take over primary backfield duties.  But then the Rams went out and signed Darrell Henderson and elevated Royce Freeman from the practice squad.  And when the dust settled, it was Henderson that had the most carries and the only rushing TD.  If nothing else, Henderson has the most historical knowledge with the Rams from his previous tour of duty.  Who knows what will come in Week 8, but we know that Williams and Rivers won’t be back for at least another 3 games, so Henderson is worth a pickup in all 12-team leagues or deeper.

Rushing & Receiving Table

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

WR – Seattle Seahawks – 59% Owned

It was only a matter if time before 1st round rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba had his breakout game, and it took a DK Metcalf injury to get it as Smith-Njigba caught 4 of 7 targets for 63 yards and a TD.  Metcalf should be back next week, but Smith-Njigba will continue to be involved in 3-receiver sets and clearly has the trust of Geno Smith.  Go pick him up in all 12-team leagues or deeper.

Kendrick Bourne

WR – New England Patriots – 26% Owned

Quietly, Kendrick Bourne is making a statement as the Patriots de facto WR1.  In Week 6, he caught 10 of a whopping 11 targets for 89 yards and added a rush for 4 yards.  In Week 7, he followed that up be catching 6 of 7 targets for 63 yards and a TD.  Mac Jones seems to like him, and it’s working, so go pick him up in all 12-team leagues or deeper.

UPDATE (10/23/23)

Dalton Kincaid

TE – Buffalo Bills – 43% Owned

Coach Sean McDermott noted that Dawson Knox is going to undergo surgery on his wrist, which theoretically will sideline Knox for at least 4-6 weeks, if not longer.  There was tons of hype over rookie Dalton Kincaid in the off season as one of the best move tight ends in the draft, so there’s a significant opportunity for Kincaid in the Bills high powered offense. He had a career-high 8 receptions for 75 yards in Week 7, so he looks like he could settle in to be a great asset at a shallow position.  Scoop him up in all 10-team leagues or deeper.
