“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene 2022 Week 17 NFL Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 5 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 17 Games

Ha Kung’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 64.7% record for the season, so that’s seven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Plus, I had a 75.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 58% record on Upsets of the Week.  I had a decent week going 10-6 in Week 16, with a total of 151-88 for the season (63.2%), 12-4 for Locks of Week, and 7-9 for Upsets of the Week.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 17…

Lock of the Week Kansas City Chiefs (-10.0) over Denver Broncos

The Chiefs have the most yards (420.6) and 2nd most points (29.2) per game of any team in the NFL.  So long as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are healthy, only the Bengals can beat them.  The Broncos defense is actually not bad, but the offense has been abysmal, having the least points per game (15.5) of any team in the NFL, so it’s pretty clear how this is going to go.  Don’t over think it.  Lock it in.

Upset of the Week New England Patriots (+2.5) over the Miami Dolphins

With Tua in the concussion protocol for the 3rd time this season, the Dolphins will be starting Teddy Bridgewater under center.  Bridgewater isn’t horrible, but the Dolphins offense will definitely take a step back.  The Patriots defense is among the best in the NFL, allowing the 5th least points per game to opposing offenses (19.4) and having the 3rd most sacks (50) and takeaways (25) of any team in the NFL.  The Patriots offense isn’t great, but the Dolphins defense allows the 5th most yards per game (370.8) to opposing defenses.  I like the Patriots for the upset.
