“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene 2022 Week 12 NFL Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 5 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 12 Games

Ha Kung’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 64.7% record for the season, so that’s seven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Plus, I had a 75.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 58% record on Upsets of the Week.  I had an OK week going 9-5 in Week 11, with a total of 103-60 for the season (63.2%), 7-4 for Locks of Week, and 6-5 for Upsets of the Week.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 12…

Lock of the Week Kansas City Chiefs (-14.5) over Los Angeles Rams

The Kansas City Chiefs have tons of injuries with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman and Clyde Edwards-Hillaire out, but it really doesn’t matter.  So long as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are in, the Chiefs are rolling.  They currently have the most yards (429.3) and points (30.0) per game of any team in the NFL.  The Los Angeles Rams on the other hand are on the biggest Super Bowl hangover in history, with just 3 wins this season, Cooper Kupp out, and potentially both Matt Stafford and John Wolford out, leaving the Rams with 3rd string UDFA QB Bryce Perkins under center. Don’t over think it.  Lock it in.

Upset of the Week New England Patriots (+2.5) over the Minnesota Vikings

We saw what happened when the Minnesota Vikings played a top shelf defense last week.  Kirk Cousins was uncomfortable all day long and only had 105 passing yards before getting pulled for Nick Mullens, leading to an embarrassing 40-3 blowout.  The Patriots are quietly allowing the 3rd least yards (302.8) and the 2nd least points (16.9) to opposing offenses per game in the NFL this season.  Sure, the Pats don’t have much of an offense, but the Vikings defense is giving up 121.6 rush yards per game this season and allowed big performances to both Tony Pollard and Zeke Elliott last week, so leaning on Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris should be plenty good for the Patriots.  I like New England to pull the upset here.

Joanne’s Picks

Scott’s Picks

Scott’s Thoughts:

Thanksgiving week is upon us.   It’s the only national game for the lions this year and they draw the Bills.  Teams are separating themselves for the playoff positioning and others are about to fall apart.   It’s going to be interesting to see what these usual playoff teams do down the stretch.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Thanksgiving tidbits:

Buffalo-Detroit will be an all guns blazing shootout but I say Buffalo has too much firepower for the Lions.
Everyone is saying the Giants are about to collapse. But while I don’t think they win against the Cowboys I think they show a lot of resilience in a close game here.
If the Vikings-Pats game was in New England I would be all over the Patriots. The Vikings are on the slide but I can’t seriously pick New England when they couldn’t score an offensive touchdown against the Jets.

Sunday:

Baltimore has gotten away with poor performances the last few weeks. And I am not sure they see the Jaguars coming. Doug Pederson had 2 weeks to get ready for this game and he’s pretty good off the bye like his old boss was. Jags upset the Ravens.
Washington vs. Atlanta might be the whole ball game for the Commanders and their playoff hopes. Win and I think they make it as both the Seahawks and Giants will slide towards them the rest of the season. Lose and I think they miss out. Despite my worries about Cordarelle Patterson hurting Washington in both kick returns and running the football I will take the Commanders to continue their amazing (and fortunate) renaissance.
