By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 5 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 5 Games

Ha Kung’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 64.7% record for the season, so that’s seven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Plus, I had a 75.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 58% record on Upsets of the Week.  I’m still off to a great start going 12-4 in Week 4 for a total of total of 42-21 for the season (66.7%), 3-1 for Locks of Week, and 3-1 for Upsets of the Week.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 5…

Lock of the Week Buffalo Bills (-14.0) over Pittsburgh Steelers

Perhaps the Steelers will be better with Kenny Pickett under center than with Mitchell Trubisky, but it certainly didn’t look that way during his short Week 4 audition, where he managed to throw 3 INTs.  Sure, one of them was a desperation heave at the end of the game, and he did run in two TDs.  That being said, the Bills have the number defense in the league, so I don’t see there being any upset here, particularly with the Bills healthy.  Lock it in.

Upset of the Week Detroit Lions (+3.0) over New England Patriots

The Lions have been scoring in bunches but unfortunately have been scored on in bunches as well.  The Patriots on the other hand have had a solid defense, but one that has underperformed this season being ranked just 19th overall, and now both Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer are on IR.  It’s likely that Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson will run all over the Lions 30th ranked run defense, but I think the Lions keep up on offense and win a close one.

Joanne’s Picks

Joanne’s Thoughts:

It’s week 5, and I’m still getting it wrong. This season is making my head spin. Teams that should be winning are taking home the ‘W’ and star players are disappointing in fantasy. As for the Giants, they are 3-1 and only seem to win when I pick the opposing team. I’m going to test my theory and never pick the NY Giants to win.

Scott’s Picks

Scott’s Thoughts:

The first 4 weeks are behind us and we’re starting to see who’s for real and who isn’t. There are still some 1-3 teams that can win any Sunday. We’re all bunched up behind the leader, we’ll see what happens.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Detroit at New England: The Lions are the highest-scoring team in the league but have only beaten hapless Washington. Meanwhile the New England is coming off a heroic effort in an overtime defeat at Green Bay. So surely take the Patriots? Not with 7th-round pick Bailey Zappe at the helm. The Lions get Amon-Ra St. Brown back and have too much firepower for the Patriots.

Dallas at L.A. Rams: The Rams have big problems on the offensive line. Against the 49ers they were playing a third-string center backups at both guard spots. As a result Matthew Stafford was under siege. And now they have to block the Cowboys front 7? Good luck. Cooper Rush’s faults are starting to show but if Dallas sticks with the running game they will get a massive win at SoFi Stadium

Eliminator pick: Hopefully this is easier than the Packers were last week. Buffalo at home against Kenny Pickett in his first start. #BillsMafia rolls.
