“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene 2022 Week 2 NFL Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 5 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 2 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 64.7% record for the season, so that’s seven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Plus, I had a 75.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 58% record on Upsets of the Week.  And I’m off to a blazing hot start going 11-4 in Week 1, plus I hit on my Lock of Week (Ravens) and Upset of the Week (Vikings) so I’m totally cooking with gas!  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 2…

Lock of the Week Denver Broncos (-10.0) over Houston Texans

I’m as shocked as anyone that the Broncos started off the Russell Wilson era losing to the Seahawks in Seattle.  But to be honest, if either Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon didn’t lose their respective fumbles, I suspect the result would have been different, and the Seahawks were playing with a ton of emotion seeing as how Wilson had been the face of their franchise up until this season.  Wilson actually looked better as time went on and both Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton look legit, so I think they right the ship this week against the scrappy Texans, who although I respect for almost beating Indy, just won’t have the horse power (pun intended) to take down the Broncos.

Upset of the Week Washington Commanders (+2.5) over Detroit Lions

Both the Commanders and the Lions had scrappy performances in Week 1.  The difference was that the Commanders came back for the win while the Lions didn’t.  That being said, I’ve already mentioned how impressed I was with Carson Wentz and his four TDs in his first appearance, the first time there’s been a 4 TD game by a Washington QB since Kirk Cousins in 2017. And rookie Jahan Dotson, who I was high on in the preseason, was as advertised.  With D’Andre Swift dealing with an ankle injury, I think the Commanders manage to take this one in Motor City.
