“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene 2021 Week 14 NFL Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 7 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 14 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 68.1% record for the season, so that’s six years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I got back on track with 15 of 16 in Week 6 and had a little slip in Week 13 but I’m still at a decent 117-76 (60.6%) on the year.  Last year, I had an 87.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 50% record on Upsets of the Week.  So far I’m 69.2% (9-4) on my Locks and 46.2% (6-7) on my Upsets this year, so we’re still on track.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 14…

Lock of the Week Los Angeles Chargers (-10.5) over New York Giants

The Chargers defense have been pretty weak, but the Giants are either going to start a less than 100% Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm in his first ever NFL start.  Either way, that doesn’t bode well for the Giants.  The Chargers will be without Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, but honestly, Justin Herbert and Austin Ekeler will do just fine.  Lock in the Chargers.

Upset of the Week San Francisco 49ers (+1.0) over Cincinatti Bengals

The Bengals have been a discombobulated mess of late, while the 49ers have found their recipe for success (i.e. dominate time of possession by running the ball).  It’s possible that Joe Burrow breaks out of his slump this week, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the 49ers maintain momentum by controlling the clock.

Scott’s Thoughts:

Working on getting above 60%. Trying to push hard to get there. Still getting burned every week.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

So many games this week are really impossible to pick. How do you choose between Baltimore and Cleveland after what you saw from the Ravens in Pittsburgh? Or Cincinnati and San Francisco after what they dished up last week? Or Pittsburgh-Minnesota in the Thursday night games.

So I just went with the home team in those games. I only went with two road teams this week. One was Seattle who is at Houston and that’s self-explanatory. The other is the L.A. Rams at Arizona and that’s a pick against the public. Kyler Murray is back and they won easily while the Rams are in a slump thanks to Matt Stafford’s struggles with turnovers.

L.A. has to win this game and they were spanked in the first meeting but like their tenant the Chargers they play better away from home than at home. So I’m backing the Rams.
I’m also backing two home dogs. The Jets is purely an anti-Taysom Hill play. Hill is what happens when a make-a-wish kid gets to play quarterback in the NFL. He is not one and will never be one.

Washington has their formula. Run the football, control the clock, keep the defense fresh for the fourth quarter. And it will work once more against the sliding Cowboys.
