2017 NFL Conference Championship Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

Without further to do, here are our picks:

Conference Championship Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 62% record for the season, so that’s two years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Had a rough Divisional Playoff Weekend, bringing me to 165-99 overall this year, which is a 62.5% pick rate, so we’re still in great shape for the season!

Ryan and I also broke down the Conference Championships in this week’s Podcast, so go check that out!

You can also find more detail in my breakdown of the AFC Conference Championship – Jacksonville Jaguars @ the New England Patriots and my breakdown of the NFC Conference Championship – Minnesota Vikings @ Philadelphia Eagles!

Last week’s Lock of the Week went to plan with the Pats, but the upset of the week was a miss, but only because of Stefon Diggs literal last second heroics to beat the Saints.  That makes me 6-3 on Locks and 2-6 on Upsets going into the Conference Championships.

This week, there just isn’t a clear Lock or Upset.  Although I like the Patriots the most, the Jaguars are built to beat them, and although I think Minnesota is in a good position against the Eagles, anything is possible with two dominant defenses.  So if you have to bet…

Lock of the WeekNew England Patriots over the Jacksonville Jaguars

Moneyline: Patriots (-320) / Titans (+260)

I actually feel pretty uncomfortable about this, as the Jags have the best defense in the NFL.  But, as we’ve said previously, Tom Brady plays at another level in the postseason, averaging 269.5 pass yards, 1.9 TDs and only 0.9 INTs over 35 postseason appearances, including last week.  The Jags may slow him down, but I suspect the Patriots won’t take their foot off the gas and pull through.

Also, just because we love competition here at Football Garbage Time, we’re once again going heads up against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks.

They’re awesome competitors, and they KNOW their sports, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Scott King’s Picks

I officially Hate all of my picks this postseason.  After posting a great regular season, I’ve sunk to 2-6 this postseason.  I’ve bet against the Jags and lost, I bet against the Eagles and lost, I cannot get a handle on things.  This week I don’t trust Foles so I’m going with the Vikings and I just can’t pick Bortles against Brady.  So if you want to make some cash, go Jags and Eagles.
