Week 9 Games
Ha Kung Wong’s Picks
Ha Kung’s Thoughts:
Over the last 4 seasons, I’ve averaged a 65% win percentage, which means that’s now eleven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate. Last year, I also was 95% on my Lock of the Week (20-1) and 50% on my Upset of the Week (10-10). But that was the past, and this is now, and I’m shooting for twelve years in a row for my picks and Locks!
In Week 9, I had a solid 12-2 leaving me 72-48 (60%) for the season.
Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 9…
Lock of the Week ➡ Detroit Lions (-7.0) over Miami Dolphins
After beating the previously unbeaten Minnesota Vikings in Week 8, the Detroit Lions should have no problem taking care of the one-win Miami Dolphins. Malik Willis has displayed impressive scrappiness under center, but the lack of elite playmakers in Miami’s surrounding roster severely caps their ceiling against a Detroit defense that boasts the return of safety Brian Branch. On the other side of the ball, Jared Goff thrives when kept clean, and Miami presents an ideal matchup due to holding one of the lowest team pressure and sack rates in the NFL—generating only single-digit sacks on the year while giving up the league’s worst passer rating allowed (119.5). Add to that the fact that Miami ranks 29th in blitz percentage, and Goff should have a field day. Amon Ra St. Brown, Goff’s favorite target, works primarily out of the slot, where Miami’s defense struggles most—they currently allow an NFL-worst 8.29 yards per pass attempt and a +0.30 EPA per dropback. Listen, we could on and on with the stats, but I think that’s enough. I think you gewt the idead. Just lock in the Lions.
Upset of the Week ➡ None
Yeah, I don’t trust any of the underdogs this week.

George’s Picks
George’s Thoughts:
One and a half steps back this week, so we will do better and start with a couple of western time zone teams coming east for the dreaded 1 p.m. kickoff. Often times those team’s struggle.
L.A. Rams at Washington: Some of this is complete wishcasting. The Rams still have Matt Stafford, Puca Nucua, Kyren Williams on offense and Myles Garrett is slated to be back on defense. And yet this team has lost to the likes of Arizona this season. And the Rams are 4-4 because their defense has underperformed all season, and they’ve had issues with turnovers. And with a healthy Jayden Daniels, Washington can take advantage (even in the state they are in).
Denver at Carolina: Denver just wins these games they have no business winning every week. And Carolina has lost control of the NFC South after back-to-back defeats. And yet I think the Panthers can move the football on the Denver defense and as bad as the Carolina defense is, the Broncos offense can be worse a lot of the time. I am going for a Panthers upset.
Tampa Bay at Chicago: Ok Buccaneers, you’ve finally got me believing. Even though Baker Mayfield has barely completed a pass since returning from injury, Tampa has all the momentum in the NFC South with 3 straight wins and a running game on fire. And it’s been obscured by Caleb Williams’ excellence, but the Bears defense is not that good. The Pirate Ship sails along and upsets Chicago.
