Week 16 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

After a 64.7% record four seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) three seasons ago and 63.4% (180-104) two seasons ago, I ended up at a whopping 68.8% last season, my best season yet.  So that’s ten years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I also had 84% right for Locks of the Week (16-3) and 44.4% for Upsets of the Week (8-10), so not only did I meet my 2023 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have ten years in a row of Locks being over 70%.  But that was the past, and this is now, and I’m shooting for eleven in a row for both!

Had a decent week going 11-5, leaving me 146-77 for the season (65.5%), hitting my Lock (14-1) and my Upset (7-8).  Let’s move on to my Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 16…

Lock of the Week Houston Texans (-14.5) over Las Vegas Raiders

The Texans have the best defense in the league.  They’ve allowed the least yards (269.2) and points (16.3) per game to opposing offenses this season and there’s no reason that won’t continue against the struggling Raiders.  The Texans also have the third most takeaways (24) and the 8th most sacks (38) in the league.  I almost don’t care who they play, but the Raiders are a steaming dumpster fire full of garbage and is on a 8-game losing streak and the Texans are on a 6-game winning streak.  Lock in the Texans.

Upset of the Week Los Angeles Chargers (+2.0) over Dallas Cowboys

The Chargers are actually pretty good.  They’ve won 3 in a row and now face a Cowboys defense that can’t stop anything allowing the 4th most yards and the 2nd most points per game to opposing offenses.  The Cowboys postseason hopes are now on life support after dropping their last two, and I don’t expect them to make a comeback now against a Chargers defense that allows the 2nd least yards (279.1) and 9th least points (20.3) to opposing offense.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chargers upset the Cowboys.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Things were going so well until the back half of the third quarters at 4:25. So let’s bounce back and start with the big game on Thursday night.

L.A. Rams at Seattle: The trend of the road team winning in this rivalry was bucked by Sam Darnold’s 4 interceptions and the Seahawks still almost won. So why not Seattle this time. Because the Rams’ already good running game is boosted by the emergence of Blake Corum. DeVonta Adams is out but up stepped Colby Parkinson and I think he’s the difference.

Green Bay at Chicago: The Packers not only blew a lead in the second half, they lost Micah Parsons so surely they can’t beat the Bears on the road. WRONG! Packers give their division title hopes a better chance by winning.

Tampa Bay at Carolina: How can you take either side in this crunch NFC South matchup. Well I am going to try it with the Panthers because at least their defense can stop someone once in awhile and they own a win over the Rams. Bucs offense is getting healthy and good, there defense is a wreck.

Eliminator picks if you are still alive on ESPN or Yahoo:

  1. Philadelphia (if you haven’t used them)
  2. Houston
  3. 49ers (if you haven’t used them)
