Week 14 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

After a 64.7% record four seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) three seasons ago and 63.4% (180-104) two seasons ago, I ended up at a whopping 68.8% last season, my best season yet.  So that’s ten years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I also had 84% right for Locks of the Week (16-3) and 44.4% for Upsets of the Week (8-10), so not only did I meet my 2023 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have ten years in a row of Locks being over 70%.  But that was the past, and this is now, and I’m shooting for eleven in a row for both!

Had a decent week going 10-6, leaving me 128-65 for the season (66.3%), hitting my Lock (12-1) and my Upset (6-7).  Let’s move on to my Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 14…

Lock of the Week Seattle Seahawks (-7.0) over Atlanta Falcons

Upset of the Week Washington Commanders (+1.5) over Minnesota Vikings

The Commanders just came off a wild Week 13 where they almost upset the Broncos in overtime and only loss because they refused to tie the game and failed on a 2-point conversion attempt for the win.  I can totally respect that, and more importantly, the league should respect that Washington with Marcus Mariota managed to push the 2 overall seed in the AFC to the brink.  The Vikings are nowhere as good as the Broncos and have been spiraling with and without JJ McCarthy.  McCarthy is back, but unless he’s developed a lot more of a connection with his receivers, that shouldn’t change much.  The Vikings have the most giveaways in the league, mostly because McCarthy has turned over the ball so often.  The Commanders aren’t great, but Jayden Daniels may be back this week, and that’s meaningful as that would be the first time this season Daniels would play with every starting WR healthy.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the Commanders upset the scuffling Vikings.

The season is in the home stretch. A lot to still play for and the lions came away with a big win Thursday. Let’s go.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Crushed everyone last week, let’s do it again this week.

Dallas at Detroit: The Cowboys are playing far better than the Lions right now. And Detroit suffered a major blow when Frank Rangow’s unretirement was stopped by injury. This is Detroit’s last stand. If they lose this game they probably aren’t going to the playoffs. For that reason I am taking the Lions.

Cincinnati at Buffalo: This is the Bills’ last stand too. But Joe Burrow’s return has me convinced that if the Bengals win this game, they will run the table and steal the AFC North. Cincinnati’s got a pretty good record against Buffalo and the will add to it.

Pittsburgh at Baltimore: Both these teams are flagging. There’s just not a good reason to pick the collapsing Steelers. So for no good reason I will take them to upset the Ravens.

Houston at Kansas City: The Texans defense is on fire and they have the struggling Colts and the flaky Jaguars in their sights. They won’t let the Chiefs stop them on their march towards the top of the AFC South.

Philadelphia at L.A. Chargers: It’s December. That means Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert are about to circle the drain. And who better than the Eagles to profit. Especially as this is the week for Saquon Barkley to rediscover his 2024 form.

Eliminator picks (if you didn’t get done in by KC, Philly or Baltimore last week):

  1. Tampa Bay
  2. Washington
  3. Cleveland
