Week 9 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

After a 64.7% record four seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) three seasons ago and 63.4% (180-104) two seasons ago, I ended up at a whopping 68.8% last season, my best season yet.  So that’s ten years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I also had 84% right for Locks of the Week (16-3) and 44.4% for Upsets of the Week (8-10), so not only did I meet my 2023 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have ten years in a row of Locks being over 70%.  But that was the past, and this is now, and I’m shooting for eleven in a row for both!

Had a decent week going 8-5, leaving me 80-41 for the season (66.1%), hitting my Lock (7-1) and my Upset (2-6).  Let’s move on to my Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 9…

Lock of the Week Los Angeles Chargers (-9.5) over Tennessee Titans

Kimani Vidal had his breakout in Week 8 and all of the Chargers WRs are healthy, so it looks like the Chargers are back on track.  The Chargers have the 4th most yards (378.5) per game on offense, while the Titans have the least yards (248.8) and points (13.8) per game on offense this season. Add that to the fact that the Titans defense allows the 3rd most points per game (28.8) to opposing teams this season and it’s all but a forgone conclusion.  Lock it in.

Upset of the Week Washington Commanders (+3.5) over Seattle Seahawks

Interestingly, the Commanders and Seahawks are pretty close in terms offensive and defensive output, but the big difference, in my opinion, is that Jayden Daniels has been out for about half the season so far, and he’s definitely what makes the team go.  Well, he’s back and I just have a feeling he’s ready to get the Commanders back on track this week, so I wouldn’t be surprised by the upset.

Joanne Kong’s Picks

Scott King’s Picks

Scott’s Thoughts:

We’re halfway through the season and the injuries are really stacking up. Players are done for the year and some are coming back. We’re going to hit a grind for the next few weeks. Look for some top teams to drop games in the next couple weeks, it always happens.

Lions are back from their bye and defensive players will start coming back. Plus we have the trade deadline looming.

Wild times.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Atlanta at New England: Provided Michael Penix is starting, this is one of those games that happens to young teams that get good out of nowhere. Everyone’s telling the Patriots how good they are and the Falcons just lost to the Dolphins so there’s no way they could win in New England, right? Wrong, Falcons pull a stunning upset.

Indianapolis at Pittsburgh: This looks like a trap game for the Colts and it’s absolutely a must win for the Steelers with the Ravens coming back to life. And yet I think Indianapolis just find a way at some point, especially against a struggling Pittsburgh defense.

Kansas City at Buffalo: The Chiefs are favored because of their good record in Buffalo but that’s usually in the playoffs. In the regular season the Bills usually win this game and then they will probably turn around and find a way to lose to the Chiefs in the playoffs.

Eliminator pick: L.A. Chargers or Detroit
