Without further to do, here we go:

Week 5 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

After a 64.7% record four seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) three seasons ago and 63.4% (180-104) two seasons ago, I ended up at a whopping 68.8% last season, my best season yet.  So that’s ten years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I also had 84% right for Locks of the Week (16-3) and 44.4% for Upsets of the Week (8-10), so not only did I meat my 2023 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have ten years in a row of Locks being over 70%.  But that was the past, and this is now, and I’m shooting for eleven in a row for both!

Last week I went 10-5, leaving me 45-18 for the season (72.9%), hitting my Lock (4-0) and missing my Upset (1-3).  Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 5…

Lock of the Week Los Angeles Rams (-6.5) over San Francisco 49ers

Well, let’s see.  On the one side you have the 49ers who will be without Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk, so essentially every position player is out except for Christian McCaffrey.  On the other side you have the Rams.  Lock it in.

Upset of the Week New York Giants (+2.0) over New Orleans Saints

Jaxson Dart got his first start and lo and behold the Giants got their first win, and impressively against a once undefeated Los Angeles Chargers team.  Malik Naber is out for the season, but Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson stepped on and Cam Skattebo continues to impress in the backfield.  The Saints on the other hand continue to be winless and have allowed the 3rd most points per game this season (30.3).  I’m not 100% sure why the Saints are favored, but I wouldn’t be surprised by the upset.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Trying to bounce back from an awful week and I will start with . . .

Miami at Carolina: I know the Dolphins just won but that was more about how bad the Jets are than the Dolphins playing better. And Carolina’s been blown out twice this season but they are at home and the Miami shouldn’t be favored on the road against anyone. Take the Panthers

N.Y. Giants at New Orleans: If this was Russell Wilson starting then I could by the Saints as a favorite here. But the Giants look reborn under Jaxson Dart and the Saints defense has struggled against everyone they faced. The Dart bandwagon gathers momentum.

Washington at L.A. Chargers: Speaking of the Chargers, their offensive line got exposed by the Giants and for me it’s a question of whether the Commanders front can make similar hay. If so that will make Jayden Daniels’ homecoming that much sweeter as Washington bounces back.

Eliminator pick: Detroit
