Waiver Favors™: 2024 Week 6 Fantasy Football Pickups

As I do every year over the last 12 years, I’m here to help with waiver wire adds via my weekly Waiver Favors™ article!  And I’m assuming if you’re reader right now, you’re in your fantasy football playoffs, so congratulations!

I’ll make a couple suggestions for after Week 6 of the 2024 fantasy football season that hopefully will keep your team running.  You’re welcome.  Again.

As usual, all pickups are available in at least 50% of Yahoo standard fantasy football leagues (with some minor exceptions) as of Sunday evening.

And don’t forget that I have my previous recommended pickups this season at the end of the article, categorized by which leagues I would still pick them up in.

Last week, I made a number of suggestions for pickups, and many of those still stand if their available in your league, such as Josh Downs.  Here are the new waiver wire suggestions:

Drake Maye

QB – New England Patriots – 6% Owned

I’m not telling you to automatically pick up Drake Maye, but I do think he’s interesting in deep leagues.  In his first start, he completed 20 of 33 passes for 243 yards, 3 TDs and 2 interceptions. He added five carries for 38 yards and lost a fumble.  His day was the epitome of up and down, interspersing TDs with turnovers.  That being said, he did have moments and there’s no reason to believe the Patriots started him without intending to give him a very long leash.  Plus they get to face the turnstile defense known as the Jacksonville Jaguars next week, who have allowed the most passing yards to opposing QBs per game (276.7) this season.  Feel free to stash him in 16-team leagues or deeper and in all two QB leagues.

Isaac Guerendo

RB – San Francisco 49ers – 4% Owned

With Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell already out, recent phenom Jordan Mason also went out in Week 6 with an AC joint sprain that ultimately took him out of the second half of the game.  In stepped Isaac Guerendo with 10 carries for 99 yards and a TD he decided to forgo so the 49ers could instead run out the clock.  It looks like Mason might be good enough to go in Week 7, but it’s best to play it safe and snag Guerendo as insurance.  If Mason does miss time, Guerendo would be an automatic top-10 RB play.

DeMario Douglas

WR – New England Patriots – 7% Owned

DeMario Douglas might be the best WR on the Patriots, but it’s been tough to tell with mediocre QB play, but Drake Maye was decent at airing the ball out allowing Douglas to have his best game of the season catching 6 of 9 targets for 92 yards and a TD, which was his 1st career TD.  As long as Maye is starting, it’s worth picking up Douglas in all 12-team leagues or deeper.

Bub Means

WR – New Orleans Saints – 0% Owned

With Chris Olave out with concussion and rookie Spencer Rattler getting his first NFL start, Bub Means came out of nowhere to catch 5 of 8 targets for 45 yards and a TD.  Will it continue?  It’s anyone’s guess, but it would be fast for Olave to clear for Week 7, and Rattler does seem to have a good connection with Means, so he’s worth a speculative grab in all 16-team leagues or deeper.
