And we’re back for Week 3 of the NFL season and MORE DFS CASH!  Oh, and by the way, not only did ALL 5 of my suggested lineups WON CASH in Week 1, but all 5 of my revised suggested lineups in Week 2 ALSO WON CASH.  Just sayin’.

We all know that DFS is a great way to prove you have serious football IQ and earn you bragging rights among your friends (and if you’re like me, among your family as well!).  And heck, if you win cash, that’s just gravy, right?  (No need to answer that question, it was totally rhetorical. I know you all like cash. And gravy.)

So before we get to winning you bragging rights (and DFS cash), remember, the point of this article is not just to give you one lineup for each site, it’s to give you examples of one or two POSSIBLE lineups.  Getting exposure to a few different lineups is always a good idea, so don’t forget to mix and match additional lineups from my suggestions below.  And that’s never been more true than in the first week of the season when we have very limited data.  Trust me, it’s a lot more fun that way AND you’ll improve your chances of cashing!

So without further to do, here are my favorite cash lineups for FanDuel, Draft Kings, and Yahoo! DFS, plus a few others suggestions you might consider for your lineups.

Let’s get to winning you some CASH in Week 3 of the 2017 NFL season!

Daily Fantasy Football

Cash Games, for those who don’t know, are essentially the lowest risk games.  They include “50/50” games, in which half the entrants win about 1.8x the entry fee, and “Double Ups”, in which slightly less than half the entrants win 2x the entry fee.

Since there’s so many different sites, and I can’t cover them all, I’ve decided to cover just the most popular sites, including Fan Duel, Draft Kings and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy.

First of all, as a general rule for 50/50 Cash Games, there’s a basic target of points per salary cap spent that you’d like to look for:

  • For Fan Duel try to target at least 2 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
  • For Draft Kings, try to target at least 2.5 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
  • For Yahoo! Daily Fantasy, try to target at least 0.6-0.7 fantasy points per $1 spent.

Remember, this article is not focused on GPP (Tournament) Games, JUST Cash Games.  Feel free to use a few of these suggested players as a base when constructing a GPP lineup, but you’ll have to take some chances on a few low cost, upside players as well.

So, without further to do, here are my suggestions for the Best Daily Fantasy Football Plays for Cash Games for Week 3 contests, along with they’re prices on Fan Duel (“FD”), Draft Kings (“DK”) and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy (“Y!”).

UPDATE – Sam Bradford is OUT in Week 3.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defense is a viable play if you’re looking to save money at DEF.

FanDuel

Again, to encourage some diversity in your lineups, I’m giving you two sample lineups for FanDuel this week.

This week, is to go high end with QB, WR, TE and DEF, and make room by grabbing a RB and WR. I also like players in the three games with the highest over/unders of the week, Oakland Raiders @ Washington Redskins (55), Atlanta Falcons @ Detroit Lions (50.5) and the Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Chargers (47.5).

For specifics, we actually went through a number of players on this week’s Podcast with Joe Murray, host of the “Joe Show” on 98.5 The Sports Hub CBS Boston.  But let me at least explain my value picks.

At RB, my value pick is Tarik Cohen (FD: $5600 / DK: $5600 / Y!: $16).  Jordan Howard played through a shoulder injury in Week 2, but was out with his arm in a sling in short measure.  Regardless, based on usage in the passing game alone, and his usage in Weeks 1 and 2, I still like his discounted price which has barely creeped up from Week 2.  In Week 1, Cohen caught 8 of 12 targets for 47 yards and a TD adding 66 rush yards. He followed that up in Week 2 by catching 8 of 9 passes for 55 yards adding 7 carries for 13 yards.  With 21 total targets in two weeks, he’s essentially become a slot WR/RB hybrid, which is great for PPR and half-PPR formats.

At WR, my value pick is Rashard Higgins (FD: $5100 / DK: $4000 / Y!: $14).  Higgens was actually the Browns 5th round draft pick in 2016, but failed to make an impact and was relegated to the practice squad at the beginning of the season.  And then beyond all expectations, Corey Coleman apparently broke his hand, and Kenny Britt totally went into the tank, so Higgins stepped right up catching 7 of 11 targets for 95 yards, adding one carry for 4 yards.  Importantly, he was the most targeted WR of both DeShone Kizer and Kevin Hogan, so it really doesn’t matter who ends up behind center.  For the price, I like him as a terrific upside value pick facing the leaky Colts defense in Week 3.

Draft Kings

For Draft Kings, I’m not saying he’s going to go bonkers, but Chris Carson (FD: $6000 / DK: $4900 / Y!: $18) is definitely in play as good RB value.  Eddie Lacy was a healthy scratch in Week 2, and Thomas Rawls returned from injury but is either not involved or is getting eased in really slowly.  Carson rushed 20 times for 93 yards and snagged 1 of 2 targets for 7 yards, while Rawls only got 5 carries.  Everything right now points to him being the starter, so I don’t mind the play for the price.

Yahoo! DFS

For Yahoo, I also like value at the TE with Jack Doyle (FD: $5300 / DK: $3600 / Y!: $17).  Doyle was supposed to have a good year in Indy with no competition, but then Andrew Luck went out indefinitely.  Scott Tolzien did him no favors, but backup backup Jacoby Brissett did in Week 2 as Doyle caught 8 of 8 targets for 79 yards.  He led all NFL tight ends in catch rate last season, and is now looking like Brissett’s favorite target.  So saving up at TE with Doyle makes a lot of sense.

Alternative Options

Feel free to use any of the players that I’ve selected on one site in any other site if you have cap space.

In addition to the above, here are few other suggestions for players to use:

  • QB Cam Newton vs. NO (FD: $8100 / DK: $6600 / Y!: $36)
  • QB Kirk Cousins vs. OAK (FD: $7600 / DK: $6100 / Y!: $32)
  • QB Matt Stafford vs. ATL (FD: $7900 / DK: $6200 / Y!: $36)
  • RB LeVeon Bell @ CHI (FD: $8700 / DK: $8800 / Y!: $40)
  • WR Antonio Brown @ CHI (FD: $9000 / DK: $9000 / Y!: $39)
  • WR Amari Cooper @ WAS (FD: $7700 / DK: $7100 / Y!: $29)
  • WR Michael Crabtree @ WAS (FD: $7700 / DK: $7400 / Y!: $25)
  • WR Golden Tate vs. ATL (FD: $7400 / DK: $6900 / Y!: $23)
  • WR JJ Nelson vs. DAL (FD: $ / DK: $ / Y!: $18)

Good luck everyone, and I hope you all win DFS Cash in Week 3!
