Without further to do, here we go:

Week 9 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

After a 64.7% record three seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) two seasons ago, I ended up with 63.4% (180-104) last season.  So that’s nine years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I also had 85% right for Locks of the Week (17-3) and 42.1% for Upsets of the Week (8-11), so not only did I beat my 2022 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have nine years in a row of Locks being over 70%.

I had a decent Week 8, going 11-5 leaving me 77-46 for the season (62.6%), hit my Lock of the Week with the Broncos (6-2 on the season) and my Upset of the Week with the Cardinals (4-4 on the season).

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 9…

Lock of the Week New Orleans Saints (-7.0) over Carolina Panthers

I’m still in on basically “pick on the Panthers every week” at this point, and honestly, I don’t think I’m gonna stop until proven wrong.  The Panthers defense is atrocious and did their best to make Marcus Mariota and Bo Nix look like Hall of Famers in back-to-back weeks.  The Panthers defense has allowed the 2nd most yards (387.5) and the most points (33.7) per game of any team this season.  The Saints aren’t great, but with Derek Carr back, they should be good enough to take the Panthers, so I like them as the lock of the week.

Upset of the Week Houston Texans (+2.0) over New York Jets

I understand that both Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins are out this week, but the Jets offense has the 9th least yards (310.6) and 8th least points (18.8) per game having lost their last 5 games in a row.  Perhaps it’s a question of faith regarding the Texans offense being shorthanded, but the Texans defense has been solid allowing the 2nd least yards (280.3) per game to opposing offenses, so I like the potential upset here.

Joanne Kong’s Picks

Scott King’s Picks

Scott’s Thoughts:

Mid-season and we have some good matchups this week.  We’re going to see some teams that have a winning record get clipped in the next few weeks.  I hate taking the Lions on the road.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Houston is an underdog at a Jets team that just lost to New England. It might be a trap but can’t see the Texans losing to the rapidly disintegrating Jets.

Even with the possible emotional letdown for Cleveland I think the Jameis Winston Renaissance will continue against the unimpressive Chargers.

Whether it’s Drake Maye or Jacoby Brissett, the Patriots are simply better than the Titans who can’t decide between retread Mason Rudolph or the Mayo cologne man Will Levis. New England wins 2 in a row!

No Derek Carr for the Saints and Andy Dalton in for the Panthers means Carolina continues New Orleans’ losing streak.

Don’t care if it’s Malik Willis in for Green Bay because he’s been effective in relief of Jordan Love and Detroit’s one weakness is playing outside on grass. Packers defense forces multiple Jared Goff turnovers to surprise the Lions.

Rams-Seahawks is a rivalry often dominated by the road team. And with Cooper Kupp and Puca Nucua back in the lineup don’t count the Rams out in the wild-card hunt. Take L.A.
