Week 8 Games
Ha Kung Wong’s Picks
Ha Kung’s Thoughts:
After a 64.7% record three seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) two seasons ago, I ended up with 63.4% (180-104) last season. So that’s nine years in a row with over a 60% pick rate. I also had 85% right for Locks of the Week (17-3) and 42.1% for Upsets of the Week (8-11), so not only did I beat my 2022 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have nine years in a row of Locks being over 70%.
I had a decent Week 7, going 9-6 leaving me 66-41 for the season (61.7%), hit my Lock of the Week with the Commanders (5-2 on the season) and my Upset of the Week with the Lions (3-4 on the season).
Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 8…
Lock of the Week ➡ Denver Broncos (-9.0) over Carolina Panthers
It’s funny because at the beginning of the season I was going to start a “Crapping on Carolina” and “Dumping on Denver” segment on the podcast, but then Andy Dalton kinda turned things around for Carolina for a game or two and Denver started winning. And here we are with the 4-3 Broncos facing the 1-6 Panthers, now putting Bryce Young back behind center. With that said, I’m still in on basically “pick on the Panthers every week” at this point. The Panthers defense is atrocious and did their best to make Marcus Mariota look like a Hall of Famer in Week 7. The Panther defense has allowed the 3rd most yards (385.7) and the most points (34.7) per game of any team this season. The Broncos aren’t great, but their good enough to take the Panthers, so I like them as the lock of the week.
Upset of the Week ➡ Arizona Cardinals (+3.0) over Miami Dolphins
It’s not like I think the Cardinals are that good, but it’s pretty clear that Marvin Harrison is upset about his lack of usage, and do you know what happened the last time he was upset? He broke out with 130 yards and 2 TDs. Tua is back, but it’ll be his first game in almost 2 months, and the Dolphins defense has been decidedly middle of the road. The Cardinals have won 2 of their last 3 and I think it takes more than one game for Miami to get back on track, so I like the potential upset here.
Joanne Kong’s Picks
Scott King’s Picks
Scott’s Thoughts:
Who’s even healthy anymore? We’re approaching the halfway point of the season and injuries are stacking up. QBs are down, QBs that are playing have no receivers. Ooof. Good luck.

George’s Picks
George’s Thoughts:
Cincinnati is on 2-game winning streak thanks to surprisingly good defense but will be tested by a healthy and much tougher Philadelphia offense. I think the Bengals into a shootout and continue their October Renaissance.
The Bucs gave away their first matchup with the Falcons. And they were 10-0 ahead on the Ravens before red zone turnovers sabotaged their chances. Tampa Bay is clearly the better team and avoids turnovers to thump Atlanta.
Washington may or may not have Jayden Daniels against Chicago. But the Commanders offense kept rolling under Marcus Mariota and Washington is 3-0 at home with the last 2 wins in dominating fashion. And the Bears’ 4-2 record is even weaker than Washington’s, they haven’t played any division games yet. Take Washington.
