Football Garbage Time Staff Super Bowl 51 Picks!
By the Football Garbage Time Staff
If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year. We’re off to a decent start, so without further to do, here we go:Super Bowl 51
Ha Kung Wong’s Pick
Atlanta Falcons
Ha Kung’s Thoughts:
Easily picked the two Conference Champions last week putting me at 162-102 (61.4%) for the season, so didn’t impact much overall. This week, I’m taking the Atlanta Falcons.
Want to know why? For my thoughts on the Super Bowl 51, see my article breaking down the game and this weeks Football Garbage Time NFL Podcast, where we also cover Super Bowl 51 Prop Bets!
Also, just because we love competition here at Football Garbage Time, we’re once again going heads up against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks. We’re currently up on the Urban Sports Scene gang at 7-3-3 them for the season. But we’re still up against them for the Super Bowl, so check back to see how we do!
They’re awesome competitors, and they KNOW their sports, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long!
Scott King’s Pick
New England Patriots
Scott’s Thoughts:
It’s always bitter sweet when the Super Bowl rolls around. The excitement for a great game is overshadowed with the end of the season. For those of us whose teams are out, we’ve already moved on to the offseason thinking about free agency and the draft. Alright, that’s enough reflection, time for the game.
These two teams are defined by their offense and neither has an overwhelming defense. However, I still think that defense will end up winning this championship. Both offenses will move the ball but the defense that can force FGs and not TDs, or get some turnovers, will end up winning this game. I don’t expect it to be high scoring, those games never end up happening the way you would expect. I think the Patriots are experts on the bend-don’t-break defense and we’ll see it again in this game. I don’t think the Patriots will blow out the Falcons but will slot grind them down. I expect to see the score build from the start at 7-3, 10-6, 17-6 and somewhere in the 4th the Patriots will slowly pull away. In the end I think the Patriots take it 35-27 with the Falcons scoring late to make us look closer than the actual game.
