“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene 2022 Week 3 NFL Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 5 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 3 Games

Ha Kung’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 64.7% record for the season, so that’s seven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Plus, I had a 75.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 58% record on Upsets of the Week.  I’m still off to a hot start going 10-6 in Week 2 for a total of total of 21-10 for the season (67.7%), plus I hit on my Lock of Week (Broncos) (2-0 for the season), missed my Upset of the Week (Commanders) (1-1 for the season).  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 3…

Lock of the Week Kansas City Chiefs (-6.5) over Indianapolis Colts

The undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, unsurprisingly, have scored the second most points (35.5) in the NFL after 2 weeks.  The winless Indianapolis Colts have the worst turnover differential (-4) in the NFL after 2 weeks.  If Michael Pittman can suit up, the Colts should be better than we saw in their listless loss to the Jaguars in Week 2, but nothing I’ve seen so far indicate that the Chiefs offense can be stopped.  Lock it in.

Upset of the Week Green Bay Packers (+1.5) over Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I’ve never before hoped so much that I will be wrong, but I don’t think I will in picking the Green Bay Packers over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Frankly, this is more about the Bucs than the Packers. We already know that Mike Evans will be suspended in Week 3, and we suspect that both Chris Godwin and Julio Jones will sit out another game due to injury.  And the remaining three WRs, Russell Gage (hamstring), Breshad Perriman (knee) and Scotty Miller (calf) were limited Wednesday.  The Bucs did sign Cole Beasley to the the practice squad recently, but I’m not sure a 33 year old receiver that wasn’t at training camp would move the needle.  The Packers on the other hand appear healthy, and Alan Lazard looked as advertised even at less than 100%.  Sure, the Bears defense is way worse than the Bucs, but I think Aaron Rodgers has his mojo back from his annual week 1 crap-fest.  I’m banking on the upset here.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

After a horrible first week I’ve returned with a vengeance. Without the Browns meltdown against the Jets I would’ve won the week last week. So let’s get to it.

Houston at Chicago: Bears did beat the 49ers in week one but that was aided by a monsoon that turned that field into a bog. They were competitive against the Packers but the Texans have been better for me. Absolutely should’ve beat the Colts week 1 and sabotaged themselves in the red zone at Denver last week. Texans get their first win for Lovie Smith back in Chicago

Buffalo at Miami: The road to the Super Bowl goes through the Bills. They are on a mission and they’ve smashed two playoff teams from last year (one of the the defending champion) and look like they can only stop themselves (penalties and turnovers are an issue). Miami’s comeback was impressive but those first 3 quarters were poor and a performance like that will see Buffalo blow out a third-straight team to start the season. Buffalo is the real deal.

Eliminator: Yes the Bengals are 0-2 and yes they just lost to Cooper Rush but a given the state of the AFC North a win this week keeps them in the hunt and the Bengals will avenge a ludicrous loss to the Jets last year.
