Waiver Favors™: 2021 Week 14 Fantasy Football Pickups

As I do every year over the last 9 years, I’m here to help with waiver wire adds via my weekly Waiver Favors™ article!  And I’m assuming if you’re reader right now, you won your fantasy football playoffs last year, so congratulations!

I’ll make a couple suggestions for after Week 14 of the 2021 fantasy football season that hopefully will keep your team running.  You’re welcome.  Again.

As usual, all pickups are available in at least 50% of Yahoo standard fantasy football leagues (with some minor exceptions) as of Sunday evening.

Players I’ve suggested before that deserve a look again this week include:

And here are some new players I’m recommending this week:

Rashaad Penny

RB – Seattle Seahawks – 20% Owned

It’s pretty clear that Alex Collins is out and Rashaad Penny is in after he piled up a career-best 137 yards and 2 TDs on 16 carries in Week 14.  Penny out carried Collins 16-7 and is likely to get a long look as the starting RB for the Seahawks as the season winds down and with Chris Carson out for the season.  Grab him in all 12-team leagues or deeper.

Rex Burkhead

RB – Houston Texans – 15% Owned

With David Johnson on the COVID list, Rex Burkhead and Royce Freeman were left to handle the backfield. Both had 11 carries, but Burkhead had the bigger day with 40 rush yards as well as catching all 4 targets for 26 receiving yards. The Texans are clearly a mess, but if you’re desperate for RB, Burkhead is a decent speculative stash in 14-team leagues or deeper.

Criag Reynolds

RB – Detroit Lions – 1% Owned

It was unclear who would handle the backfield with both Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift out, and surprisingly, it was Craig Reynolds who led all RBs with 11 carries for 83 yards in Week 14.  He also added 2 receptions for 16 yards. If Williams and Swift remain out, Reynolds can be an interesting Flex in 16-leage teams or deeper.

Marvin Jones

WR – Jacksonville Jaguars – 53% Owned

The Jaguars are currently the worst team in the NFL, even though they have a better record than the Lions.  That being said, Marvin Jones was relatively productive catching 6 of 7 targets for 70 yards in Week 14.  He probably won’t be consistent, but he may helpful at least in Week 15 against the Texans if you’re looking to backup you WR core in 12-team leagues and deeper.

Austin Hooper

TE – Cleveland Browns – 41% Owned

with Harrison Bryant and David Njoku sidelined in Week 14, Austin Hooper stepped in and caught 5 of 7 targets for 30 yards and a TD.  If Njoku or Bryant return to next week, Hooper might not get enough work, but if they’re both still out, he could be a decent TE play against the Raiders.
