In 2023, we were over 70% for cash lineups again and we’re back with more Daily Fantasy Football advice for Cash Games for Week 9 of the 2024 season!  And so far, we’ve cashed every week this season.

You’re welcome.

As usual, before we get to winning you more bragging rights (and DFS cash), remember, the point of this article is not just to give you one or two lineups for each site, it’s to give you examples of a few POSSIBLE lineups.  Getting exposure to a few different lineups is always a good idea, so don’t forget to mix and match additional lineups from my suggestions below.  Trust me, it’s a lot more fun that way AND you’ll improve your chances of cashing!

Let’s get to winning you some CASH in Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season!

Daily Fantasy Football

Cash Games, for those who don’t know, are essentially the lowest risk games.  They include “50/50” games, in which half the entrants win about 1.8x the entry fee, and “Double Ups”, in which slightly less than half the entrants win 2x the entry fee.

Since there’s so many different sites, and I can’t cover them all, I’ve decided to cover just the most popular sites, including Fan Duel, Draft Kings and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy.

First of all, as a general rule for 50/50 Cash Games, there’s a basic target of points per salary cap spent that you’d like to look for:

  • For Fan Duel try to target at least 2 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
  • For Draft Kings, try to target at least 2.5 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
  • For Yahoo! Daily Fantasy, try to target at least 0.6-0.7 fantasy points per $1 spent.

Also, starting this season, Fan Duel will be giving yards bonuses similar to Draft Kings.

Remember, this article is not focused on GPP (Tournament) Games, JUST Cash Games.  Feel free to use a few of these suggested players as a base when constructing a GPP lineup, but you’ll have to take some chances on a few low cost, upside players as well.

As per usual, I’m going to provide you with a few sample lineups on each site and give you a few notes to consider.  You’re welcome.

So, without further to do, here are my suggestions for the Best Daily Fantasy Football Plays for Cash Games and player props for Week 9 contests.

FanDuel

Draft Kings

Yahoo! DFS

Game Notes:

  • For those new to this column, note that I never advocate against you paying up at any particular position for DFS.  We all know that the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Christian McCaffrey (pre-injury of course) are probably going to have the most consistent upside in terms of potential fantasy points from week to week.  But remember that DFS is a salary cap game.  You can feel free to sprinkle high priced players into your lineups, but you can’t pay up at every position because there’s simply not enough salary to go around.  I try my best each week to provide my thoughts on how you might want to balance your cash lineups in terms of points potential and salary.
  • My approach to DFS in Week 9 is to pay up for at least one RB, then go value at WR as well as at the FLEX.  For QB, I’m paying all the way up or taking a mid-priced QB.
  • The “Free Squares of the Week”™ are Courtland Sutton and Tyrone Tracy Jr.
    • Bo Nix has been airing it out and Courtland Sutton has been one of the primary beneficiaries.  Over the last two weeks, Sutton has totaled 12 receptions from 17 targets for 153 yards and a TD.  That’s pretty solid and I can see the Broncos being in a negative game script against the Ravens. The Ravens’ defense has allowed the MOST receiving yards per game (311.6) and the 2nd most receiving TDs (17) to opposing offenses, so I like Sutton’s chances to meet his reasonable price point across industry.  Feel free to throw in a little Bo Nix as well for the same reasons.
    • The Giants haven’t been a good team, but the one bright spot has been 5th Round rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr.  Over the last 4 weeks since he busted on to the scene, Tracy has averaged 15.25 carries for 86.75 yards, 3 receptions from 3.5 targets for 18 receiving yards and 0.5 TDs per game.  That’s some incredibly solid numbers for his near minimum pricing across industry.  He just cleared the concussion protocol, so take advantage of the savings.
  • The Dallas Cowboys @ Atlanta Falcons game has the highest over/under of the main slate (52.0), so there’s plenty of opportunity here.  The Cowboys allow the 7th most yards (372.6) and 2nd most points (28.3) per game to opposing offenses, so I’m in on the Falcons offense, including Kirk Cousins, Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Kyle Pitts.  The Cowboys ruling out both DE Micah Parsons and CB DaRon Bland also helps the Falcons skill players.  The Falcons’ defense isn’t quite as generous allowing the 13th most points per game (24.4), but that’s enough in what I think will be a shootout for me to be in on CeeDee Lamb.
  • The Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills game has the second highest over/under of the main slate (49.5), so there’s plenty of opportunity here too.  For the Dolphins, I’m in on De’Von Achane, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, in that order.  Everyone gets a boost from Tua’s return, as we saw last week, and Achane in particular gets a real bump as he’s accounted for a 17% target share from Tua this season. For the Bills, I like Josh Allen and Keon Coleman.  Over the last two weeks, Coleman has accounted for 20% of Allen’s targets and it appears to be growing, so I love the upside from his low pricing.
    • UPDATE (11/3/24) Amari Cooper has been ruled OUT, which theoretically will open up more targets for Keon Coleman.  I also now don’t mind playing Khalil Shakir.
  • Last week I was in on Bo Nix against the Panthers because the Panthers defense is terrible, and it totally paid off.  They’ve allowed the 2nd most total yards (387.5) and most points (33.9) per game.  The Saints get their turn against the Panthers this week, but Derek Carr is just coming back from injury, so I’m a little weary of playing him right away.  Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara, on the other hand, I absolutely love.  Olave is priced down due to recent limited production, in part due to injury, so I really like slotting him in this week.
  • The Jacksonville Jaguars have allowed the 2nd most passing yards per game (271.1), 2nd most passing TDs (17) and 4th most points per game (28.0) of any team in the NFL.  Jalen Hurts has a whopping 9 TDs over the last 3 weeks and is getting it done through the air and on the ground.  He’s my favorite QB play, but is also priced way up, so you’ll need to chip in value elsewhere to fit him in.  I also like getting exposure to the Eagles offense through AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley.
  • Kyren Williams is having himself a season averaging 89 scrimmage yards per game and scoring at least 1 touchdown in 10 consecutive regular season games. This week, Williams gets to face a Seattle Seahawks defense that is giving up the most rushing yards (1,043) of any team in the NFL.  He’s a great option if you’re paying up.
  • After a slow start, D’Andre Swift has been breaking out pretty big.  Over his last 4 games, he’s averaged 18 carries for 96.5 rush yards with 3.25 receptions and 36.75 receiving yards and a TD.  That’s some amazing production for the very reasonable price across industry.
  • Evan Engram has totaled 19 receptions from 20 targets for 173 yards and a TD over the 3 games since he’s returned.  With Christian Kirk now out for the season, and injuries to both Brian Thomas and Gabe Davis, I’d expect for Engram to continue to pick up more opportunities.
  • As for defense, you know I love paying down and getting value to spend more of the cap space elsewhere, and this week we got some decent options with the Washington Commanders Defense facing the spiraling Giants on FanDuel and Yahoo DFS and the Philadelphia Eagles Defense facing the turnover prone Jaguars.

Good luck everyone with your Week 9 Cash Lineups, and I’ll see you next week for some Week 10 Cash Lineup suggestions!
