Without further to do, here we go:

Week 7 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

After a 64.7% record three seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) two seasons ago, I ended up with 63.4% (180-104) last season.  So that’s nine years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I also had 85% right for Locks of the Week (17-3) and 42.1% for Upsets of the Week (8-11), so not only did I beat my 2022 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have nine years in a row of Locks being over 70%.

I had a decent Week 6, going 12-2 leaving me 57-35 for the season (61.2%), hit my Lock of the Week with the Falcons (4-2 on the season) and missed my Upset of the Week with the Titans losing to the Colts (2-3 on the season).

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 6…

Lock of the Week Washington Commanders (-7.5) over Carolina Panthers

It’s basically “pick on the Panthers every week” at this point.  The Panthers have definitely been better since Andy Dalton took over for Bryce Young, but they went back down to being what they were in Week 5 against the Bears and again in Week 6 against the Bucs.  The Panther defense hasn’t been any better allowing the 4th most yards (379.8) and the most points (33.8) per game of any team this season.  The Commanders on the other hand are on a serious roll with their rookie QB Jayden Daniels with the 5th most yards (378.0) and 2nd most points (29.7) per game among offenses.  I don’t think the Panthers get any better, and I like the Commanders to keep on rolling as the lock of the week.

Upset of the Week Detroit Lions (+2.5) over Minnesota Vikings

Do I believe in the resurrection of Sam Darnold?  Sure I do.  But do I believe more in what the Lions have been doing for almost 2 years now?  You better believe it.  The Lions have scored the most points per game (30.2) of any team in the NFL behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, and I don’t see that stopping this weekend against a Vikings defense that has allowed the the 3rd most passing yards per game (263.0) of any team in the NFL.  I like the potential upset here.

Joanne Kong’s Picks

Scott King’s Picks

Scott’s Thoughts:

What a league we have on our hands.  QB changes, coaches being fired, superstar trades, major injuries.  Trying to sort out who’s going to do what on a weekly basis is a challenge. Another interesting week and we may see some other coaches get fired if they don’t win this week.  Lions move on without Hutch in a massive showdown for potential top seed in the NFC.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Even though Jacksonville was the only one I got wrong last week I’ll give them 1 more chance against similarly awful New England in London.

Texans offense is cooking but I really like the Green Bay defense on their home deck and I think Josh Jacobs does the rest of the work to get the Packers over the line.

Minnesota is at home off the bye and surely Detroit has a letdown after spanking Dallas and losing Aidan Hutchinson in terrible circumstances. I don’t think so because the first cracks in Sam Darnold showed up vs the Jets and can be exploited by the Lions.

The famous words “If not now, when. And if not us, who” apply to the 49ers this week. Yeah they don’t have Christian McCaffrey but they can’t keep losing to the Chiefs after what happened in the 2 Super Bowls. A small measure of revenge for San Francisco.

In the battle between the teams that vanquished Washington, I think the Bucs do 2 things to the Ravens that the Commanders couldn’t. Tampa Bay will run behind their combination of Rachaad White and Bucky Irving and they will contain Derrick Henry enough to win. Remember the Bucs managed to hold down 2 of the top scoring teams in football (Washington and Detroit) why can’t they do it to the Ravens?
