In 2023, we were over 70% for cash lineups again and we’re back with more Daily Fantasy Football advice for Cash Games for Week 8 of the 2024 season! And so far, we’ve cashed every week this season.
You’re welcome.
As usual, before we get to winning you more bragging rights (and DFS cash), remember, the point of this article is not just to give you one or two lineups for each site, it’s to give you examples of a few POSSIBLE lineups. Getting exposure to a few different lineups is always a good idea, so don’t forget to mix and match additional lineups from my suggestions below. Trust me, it’s a lot more fun that way AND you’ll improve your chances of cashing!
Let’s get to winning you some CASH in Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season!
Cash Games, for those who don’t know, are essentially the lowest risk games. They include “50/50” games, in which half the entrants win about 1.8x the entry fee, and “Double Ups”, in which slightly less than half the entrants win 2x the entry fee.
Since there’s so many different sites, and I can’t cover them all, I’ve decided to cover just the most popular sites, including Fan Duel, Draft Kings and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy.
First of all, as a general rule for 50/50 Cash Games, there’s a basic target of points per salary cap spent that you’d like to look for:
- For Fan Duel try to target at least 2 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
- For Draft Kings, try to target at least 2.5 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
- For Yahoo! Daily Fantasy, try to target at least 0.6-0.7 fantasy points per $1 spent.
Also, starting this season, Fan Duel will be giving yards bonuses similar to Draft Kings.
Remember, this article is not focused on GPP (Tournament) Games, JUST Cash Games. Feel free to use a few of these suggested players as a base when constructing a GPP lineup, but you’ll have to take some chances on a few low cost, upside players as well.
As per usual, I’m going to provide you with a few sample lineups on each site and give you a few notes to consider. You’re welcome.
So, without further to do, here are my suggestions for the Best Daily Fantasy Football Plays for Cash Games and player props for Week 8 contests.
FanDuel
Draft Kings
Yahoo! DFS
Game Notes:
- UPDATE (10/27/24) – Tee Higgins has been declared inactive. Here are some potential alternative lineups, but continue to diversify to maximize your chances, including considering Andrei Iosivas in some lineups:
- For those new to this column, note that I never advocate against you paying up at any particular position for DFS. We all know that the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Christian McCaffrey (pre-injury of course) are probably going to have the most consistent upside in terms of potential fantasy points from week to week. But remember that DFS is a salary cap game. You can feel free to sprinkle high priced players into your lineups, but you can’t pay up at every position because there’s simply not enough salary to go around. I try my best each week to provide my thoughts on how you might want to balance your cash lineups in terms of points potential and salary.
- My approach to DFS in Week 8 is to pay up for RB, then go value for the remainder of the lineup, particularly at the FLEX.
- The “Free Squares of the Week”™ are Cedric Tilman and Jalen McMillan.
- Tilman moved into a starting role with Amari Cooper out of Cleveland and managed to catch 8 of 12 targets for 81 yards in Week 7. Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore and David Njoku should remain involved, but Jameis Winston likes to air it out and I can see the Browns being in a negative game script against a surging Ravens offense. The Ravens defense has allowed the MOST receiving yards per game (308.4) and the 3rd most receiving TDs (14) to opposing offenses, so I like Tilman’s chances to meet his near minimum price point across industry.
- With both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out in Tampa Bay, McMillan should get all the looks he can handle. McMillan hasn’t done much this season behind Evans and Godwin, but did manage to catch 3 of 8 targets for 15 yards and rushed once for 11 yards in Week 7. The targets are encouraging and, other than Cade Otton (who I also love this week), Baker Mayfield won’t have many other options. The Falcons have allowed 10 receiving TDs to opposing offenses this year, so I’m on board with McMillan have a chance to meet his near minimum price point.
- The Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers game has the third highest over/under of the main slate (46.0), so there’s plenty of opportunity here. The Buccaneers allow the 4th most passing yards (254.0) and 5th most points (26.0) per game to opposing offenses, so I’m in on the Falcons passing offense, including Kirk Cousins, Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Kyle Pitts, in that order. The Falcons defense isn’t quite as generous allowing the 11th most points per game (24.1), but that’s enough in what I think will be a shootout for me to be in on Cade Otton, Rachaad White and the aforementioned Jalen McMillan.
- The Philadelphia Eagles @ Cincinnati Bengals game has the second highest over/under of the main slate (47.5), so there’s plenty of opportunity here too. For the Eagles, I’m in on Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts, in that order. For the Bengals, I like Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow, in that order.
- Am I crazy to like Bo Nix and the Broncos this week against the Panthers? Yup, crazy like a fox! The Panthers defense has allowed the 4th most total yards (385.7) and most points (34.7) per game. Over his last 3 games, Nix has averaged 195.3 passing yards, 48.3 rush yards and totaled 5 TDs. He’s trending up and has a terrific matchup against the Panthers. Javonte Williams is also trending up, and over his last 4 games, averaged 84.5 scrimmage yards along with 2 total TDs. I love both this week as both carry very reasonable price tags across industry.
- I’m as disappointed in Breece Hall‘s production this year as anyone, but Hall had his best game with the addition of Davante Adams in Week 7 putting 141 total scrimmage yards and TD. And even before Adams, in Week 6 Hall was already trending up with 169 total yards. The Patriots defense isn’t terrible, but their offense hasn’t been good, giving Hall a chance to operate in a positive game script. Either way, Hall is priced down across industry, which makes him an excellent value.
- With Tua back, I also like taking advantage of the discounted pricing on Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as well.
- As for defense, you know I love paying down and getting value to spend more of the cap space elsewhere, and this week we got some decent options with the Detroit Lions Defense facing the Titans on FanDuel, Chicago Bears Defense facing the Commanders on Draft Kings, so long as Jaylen Daniels is out, and on Yahoo, the Baltimore Ravens Defense facing the turnover prone Browns.
Good luck everyone with your Week 8 Cash Lineups, and I’ll see you next week for some Week 9 Cash Lineup suggestions!
