In 2023, we were over 70% for cash lineups again and we’re back with more Daily Fantasy Football advice for Cash Games for Week 2 of the 2024 season!

You’re welcome.

As usual, before we get to winning you more bragging rights (and DFS cash), remember, the point of this article is not just to give you one or two lineups for each site, it’s to give you examples of a few POSSIBLE lineups.  Getting exposure to a few different lineups is always a good idea, so don’t forget to mix and match additional lineups from my suggestions below.  Trust me, it’s a lot more fun that way AND you’ll improve your chances of cashing!

Let’s get to winning you some CASH in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season!

Daily Fantasy Football

Cash Games, for those who don’t know, are essentially the lowest risk games.  They include “50/50” games, in which half the entrants win about 1.8x the entry fee, and “Double Ups”, in which slightly less than half the entrants win 2x the entry fee.

Since there’s so many different sites, and I can’t cover them all, I’ve decided to cover just the most popular sites, including Fan Duel, Draft Kings and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy.

First of all, as a general rule for 50/50 Cash Games, there’s a basic target of points per salary cap spent that you’d like to look for:

  • For Fan Duel try to target at least 2 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
  • For Draft Kings, try to target at least 2.5 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
  • For Yahoo! Daily Fantasy, try to target at least 0.6-0.7 fantasy points per $1 spent.

Also, starting this season, Fan Duel will be giving yards bonuses similar to Draft Kings.

Remember, this article is not focused on GPP (Tournament) Games, JUST Cash Games.  Feel free to use a few of these suggested players as a base when constructing a GPP lineup, but you’ll have to take some chances on a few low cost, upside players as well.

As per usual, I’m going to provide you with a few sample lineups on each site and give you a few notes to consider.  You’re welcome.

So, without further to do, here are my suggestions for the Best Daily Fantasy Football Plays for Cash Games and player props for Week 2 contests.

FanDuel

Draft Kings

Yahoo! DFS

Game Notes:

  • For those new to this column, note that I never advocate against you paying up at any particular position for DFS.  We all know that the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Christian McCaffrey are probably going to have the most consistent upside in terms of potential fantasy points from week to week.  But remember that DFS is a salary cap game.  You can feel free to sprinkle high priced players into your lineups, but you can’t pay up at every position because there’s simply not enough salary to go around.  I try my best each week to provide my thoughts on how you might want to balance your cash lineups in terms of points potential and salary.
  • My approach to DFS in Week 1 is to mostly go mid-priced throughout the lineups since we have no actual intel on who is worth paying up for in the current 53-man rosters.  I think you can get one or two premium studs at the RB or WR position with all the value, but don’t have to.
  • The “Free Square of the Week”™ is J.K. Dobbins.  In Week 1, Dobbins had 10 carries for 135 yards and a TD, adding 4 yards on 3 receptions.  And now he gets to face a Panthers defense that just allowed 180 rushing yards and 47 points to the Saints.  Gus Edwards should have some play here as well, but Dobbins is money in the bank with his extra low cost FanDuel and Draft Kings.
  • I also still like Jerome Ford as a cheap value play with Nick Chubb on the PUP list after a solid Week 1 carrying the ball 12 times for 44 yards and a TD, adding 6 receptions on 7 targets for 25 yards.
  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Detroit Lions game has the highest over/under of the main slate (51.5), so I’m in on most of the skill players here, particularly Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan for the Buccaneers and Sam LaPorta, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams for the Lions. The Bucs defense is typically pretty stout, but losing safety Antoine Winfield to an injury will definitely hurt.  Both teams are firing on all cylinders, so I’m keen on a high scoring game.  Godwin’s move back to the slot is doing wonders for his targets, which means lots of receptions, a great thing for full PPR sites like Draft Kings.  I like this game so much, I don’t even mind doubling up with two from each team and taking advantage of cheap prices for McMillan and Williams.
  • The Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals game is tied for the second highest over/under of the main slate (48), so I’m in also in on most of the skill players here, particularly Cooper Kupp, Kyren Williams and Demarcus Robinson for the Rams and Kyler Murray, James Conner, Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr. for the Cardinals. With Puka Nacua out, this should be a pretty close game, plus Kupp should get all the targets he can handle, as he got a whopping 21 targets in Week 1 after Nacua went out.  Robinson should absorb a few more targets as well, making him a nice value play exposure to this game.  Murray makes for a nice play with a solid rushing floor and passing upside against a Lions defense that allowed 363 total yards in Week 1.  Plus, you can bet the Cardinals will find a way to get Marvin Harrison Jr. more involved, a really low bar after only getting 4 targets.  Conner is a terrific play at RB after getting 73% of the rushing attempts for the Cardinals in Week 1.
  • Lamar Jackson is in a smash spot this week facing the Las Vegas Raiders.  Running QBs are fantastic for DFS as they provide a huge floor, and no one does it better than Jackson.  In Week 1, Jackson ran for 122 yards on 16 carries.  This week, Jackson faces a Raiders defense that allowed 176 rushing yards to the Chargers in Week 1.  There’s a decent chance that Jackson gets the 100-yard rushing bonus on FanDuel again this week, so I don’t mind paying up for him.

  • As for defense, you know I love paying down and getting value to spend more of the cap space elsewhere, and this week we got some great options with the Indianapolis Colts Defense facing the Malik Willis-led Green Bay Packers, the Jacksonville Jaguars Defense facing the sub-par Cleveland Browns and, if you have a little more cap space, the Los Angeles Chargers Defense against the toothless Carolina Panthers.

Good luck everyone with your Week 2 Cash Lineups, and I’ll see you next week for some Week 3 Cash Lineup suggestions!
