As I do every year over the last 10 years, I’m here to help with waiver wire adds via my weekly Waiver Favors™ article! And I’m assuming if you’re reader right now, you’re in your fantasy football playoffs, so congratulations!I’ll make a couple suggestions for after Week 8 of the 2022 fantasy football season that hopefully will keep your team running. You’re welcome. Again.
As usual, all pickups are available in at least 50% of Yahoo standard fantasy football leagues (with some minor exceptions) as of Sunday evening.
Justin Fields
QB – Chicago Bears – 41% Owned
The Bears are a mess and are clearly not playing to win this year after trading away Robert Quinn. But QB Justin Fields is starting to come into his own after completing 17 of 23 passes for 151 yards, 2 TDs and no interceptions, adding 60 rush yards and a rushing TD in Week 8. Over his last 3 games, he’s averaged 2 TDs and 76.7 rush yards per game. The rush yards provide an excellent floor week to week and the TD upside is there with a team that’s likely to have negative game scripts and require scoring in bunches to stay close. He’s worth picking up as a backup QB in 12-team leagues or deeper.
Game | Rush | Rush | Rush | Rush | Rush | Rush | Rush | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Year | Tm | G | Rush | Yds | TD | 1D | Lng | Y/A | Y/G |
2021 | CHI | 12 | 72 | 420 | 2 | 22 | 23 | 5.8 | 35.0 |
2022 | CHI | 7 | 68 | 364 | 2 | 25 | 39 | 5.4 | 52.0 |
Care | 19 | 140 | 784 | 4 | 47 | 39 | 5.6 | 41.3 |
Latavius Murray
RB – Denver Broncos – 40% Owned
Latavius Murray has been used as an RB 1B to Melvin Gordon‘s 1A since joining the Broncos and manages to rush 14 times for 46 yards and a TD adding 13 receiving yards in Week 8. So long as Murray gets double digit carries and goal line work, he’s worth your consideration as an inconsistent RB4/Flex in 14-team leagues or deeper.
Rondale Moore
WR – Arizona Cardinals – 35% Owned
It’s hard to trust any Cardinals pass catcher not named DeAndre Hopkins, but Rondale Moore is making an impact grabbing 7 of 8 targets for 92 yards and a TD with 12 rush yards in Week 8. It’s not going to be consistent, but he’s now had at least 6 receptions in 3 of the last 4 and there should get plenty of opportunity while Marquise Brown is on IR. Feel free to pick him up as a WR4/5/Flex in 14-team leagues or deeper.
Darius Slayton
WR – New York Giants – 7% Owned
With all the WR issues in New York, it doesn’t take much to work your way up to being the top target. That being said, Darius Slayton caught 5 of 6 targets for 66 yards in Week 8 and has exceeded 50 yards 3 of the last 4 weeks. Kadarius Toney was traded to the Chiefs and Wandale Robinson was almost invisible in Week 8, so Slayton is worth a look for those in 14-team leagues or deeper.
Demarcus Robinson
WR – Baltimore Ravens – 0% Owned
This one is entirely dependent on the availability of Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews. While both were out in Week 8, Robinson caught 6 of 8 targets for 64 yards leading the team in targets. If both Bateman and Andrews remain out, then Robinson can be a sneaky play for those who need a WR3/Flex in 14-team leagues or deeper.
Evan Engram
TE – Jacksonville Jaguars – 43% Owned
The TE landscape has mostly been a wasteland, so when you see someone like Evan Engram average 7.25 targets over his last 4 games and catch 4 of 6 targets for 55 yards and TD in Week 8, you take note and you consider picking him up in all 12-team leagues or deeper.
Tyler Conklin
TE – New York Jets – 11% Owned
And speaking of TE wasteland, Tyler Conklin had 6 targets in Week 7 and then caught 6 of a whopping 10 targets for 79 yards and 2 TDs in Week 8. Zach Wilson isn’t consistent, but he seems to love targeting Conklin so he’s worth your consideration in all 14-team leagues or deeper.
