As I do every year over the last 8 years, I’m here to help with waiver wire adds via my weekly Waiver Favors article! And I’m assuming if you’re a returning reader, you won your fantasy football championship last year, so congratulations! And if you’re still reading, you’re looking at getting into the playoffs in your league, so congrats again! I’ll make a couple suggestions for after Week 13 of the 2020 fantasy football season that hopefully will keep your team running. You’re welcome. Again.
As usual, all pickups are available in at least 50% of Yahoo standard fantasy football leagues (with some minor exceptions) as of Sunday evening.
Jalen Hurts
QB – Philadelphia Eagles – 3% Owned
He’s not going to turn the franchise around in a week, or perhaps not even in a season, but if nothing else, Hurts looked pretty dynamic in out-performing Carson Wentz after he was finally benched. Hurst completed 5 of 12 passes for 109 yards, one TD and an INT, adding 5 carries for 29 rush yards. His 138 yards in 22 minutes far outpaced the 97 yards Carson Wentz generated in 38 minutes. Perhaps head coach Doug Pederson decides to give Wentz another try, but it really doesn’t make sense to do that at this point. Hurts has a rushing floor that makes him a nice pickup in all 14-team leagues or deeper, and in all two QB leagues.

Cam Akers
RB – Los Angeles Rams – 53% Owned
Following a 9-84-1 rushing performance in Week 12, head coach Sean McVay finally appeared to make the move we all thought he was going to make at the beginning of the season, and essentially turned the reigns of the backfield over to rookie Cam Akers. Akers handled 21 of 28 running back carries for the Rams in Week 13, piling up 72 yards and one TD against the Cardinals, and adding a 22 yard reception. Whether this opportunity continues is anyone’s guess, but he’s worth a pickup in all 12-team leagues or deeper as this sorts out.
Ty Johnson
RB – New York Jets – 1% Owned
Poor Frank Gore. We all thought he’d be in for another big day in Week 13, but then he was knocked out of the game after his very first carry due to a helmet-to-helmet hit. In stepped second-year Ty Johnson and literally ran away with the job carrying the ball 22 times for 104 yards and a TD, adding 2 receptions for 13 yards. If Gore misses time, Johnson is likely to lead the backfield, but even if Gore does make it back, it likely benefit the Jets to see what they have in Johnson through the rest of the season. Go grab him in all 12-team leagues or deeper if you need RB help.
