As I do every year over the last 7 years, I’m back to help with some waiver wire adds via my weekly Waiver Favors article! I’m assuming if you’re a returning reader, you won your fantasy football championship last year, so congratulations! But it’s a new year, so I’ll make a couple suggestions after Week 6 of the 2019 fantasy football season. You’re welcome. Again.
As usual, all pickups are available in at least 50% of Yahoo standard fantasy football leagues (with some minor exceptions) as of Sunday evening.
Adrian Peterson
RB – Washington Redskins – 63% Owned
I know he doesn’t qualify for the pick up column, but I have to tell you how surprised this number isn’t higher. I actually highlighted him before when he was lesser owned, but his usage has totally spiked (23 carries for 118 yards) now that Bill Callahan has taken over, so don’t let him languish on the waiver wire in any 12-team league or deeper.
Chase Edmonds
RB – Arizona Cardinals – 34% Owned
If David Johnson is ever out, Edmonds would be a beast. For now, he’s still trending in the right direction. He’s had TDs in back to back weeks and his usage is increasing by the week. Should be stashed be all Johnson owners, but he’s such a homerun hitter that I like him in all 14-team leagues as well.
Mark Walton
RB – Miami Dolphins – 4% Owned
It’s hard to recommend you pick up any Miami Dolphin, but Mark Walton has been flashing in recent weeks, and although his 12 touches were less than Kenyan Drake’s 16, he was still the more productive back in Week 6, having 6 carries for 32 rush yards and snagging 5 of 6 targets for 43 receiving yards. It’s unclear where the Miami backfield stands at this point, but at best he could be the starter moving forward and at worst he’s in a near equal time share with Drake (as he looks to have surpassed Kalen Ballage). He’s worth a stash for RB-needy teams in 14-team leagues and deeper.
Jamison Crowder
WR – New York Jets – 42% Owned
Remember in Week 1 where Jamison Crowder was 14 of 17 for 99 yards with Sam Darnold? Guess who’s back? The Jets offense looks completely revitalized with Darnold back and I think Crowder will benefit. He’s worth consideration as a stash in 14-team PPR leagues or deeper.
Ricky Seals-Jones
TE – Cleveland Browns – 6% Owned
In the last three weeks, Ricky Seals-Jones was 3 of 3 for 82 yards and a TD, then 0 of 1 for 0 yards, then 3 of 6 for 47 and a TD. He’s the epitome of “boom or bust”, but if you’re hurting for a TE in 14-team leagues or deeper, he might be worth a stash.
Darren Fells
TE – Houston Texans – 3% Owned
It’s really unclear who the prominent TE, if any, will be in Houston. But Darren Fells is making the most of his opportunity catching 6 of 7 targets for 69 yards in Week 6. Jordan Atkins also got 3 targets in this game, and Fells only got 2 targets in Week 5, and 1 in Week 4, but on the upside, he did catch 3 TDs in his previous three weeks. TE is shallow, as we’ve been saying all year, and maybe you just lost Will Dissly, or are streaming TEs because you drafted a loser. Either way, Fells is worth a look in 14-team leagues and deeper.
UPDATE for Sunday and Monday Night Football
Jamaal Williams
RB – Green Bay Packers – 17% Owned
I have no idea what to expect from the Green Bay Packers backfield. In Week 5, Aaron Jones broke out in a huge way with 4 TDs while Jamaal Williams was sidelined with a concussion, and we all thought Jones was literally going to run away with the job. But come Week 6 and both Jones and Williams split touches essentially equally — Jones with 15 and Williams with 18. But Williams was the much more effective back rushing 14 times for 104 rush yards and catching 4 of his 5 targets for 32 receiving yards and a TD, whereas Jones did essentially nothing but drop a TD and lose a fumble. At this point, you need to roster both to be sure, and Williams is a viable RB4/Flex in all 12-team leagues or deeper.
And here’s who I’ve recommended in previous weeks that I still think deserve a look:

12-Team Leagues
