Without further to do, here we go:
Week 8 Games
Ha Kung Wong’s Picks
Ha Kung’s Thoughts:
Last year I ended up with a 66% record for the season, so that’s four years in a row with over a 60% pick rate. And this year, I’m still tied for 1st place with a 65-40 record (61.9%).
Plus, I had a 94% record on Locks of the Week last year. Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping there either, as I’m still 7 for 7 on Locks this year, and 3 of 7 on Upsets (stupid Melvin Gordon fumbling away my upset of the week)! So, if you’re looking to bet on the NFL, I’m your guy!
Let’s get to that Lock and Upset for Week 8…
Lock of the Week => Minnesota Vikings (-15.5) over Washington Redskins
The Vikings are rolling now that Kirk Cousins is back on track. And all it took was Adam Thielen calling him out and Stefon Diggs threatening to leave and lo and behold, the Vikings are now the 5th best offense in the league per DVOA. Washington has been a mess all over, and is the 24th ranked defense in the league per DVOA, so even with Thielen out for this early Thursday Night game, I doubt the Vikings will have any issues moving the ball. Plus Case Keenum has been struggling and was almost pulled in Week 7. You have to think that Bill Callahan is just thinking about getting past a tough Week 8 matchup before putting Dwayne Haskins back in, so the Redskins probably see this as lost week anyway. Lock in those Vikings.
Upset of the Week => Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2.5) over Tennessee Titans
Sure, Tennessee looks better with Ryan Tannehill, but let’s all remember that this is still Ryan Tannehill. The Buccaneers have been incredibly inconsistent and are only the 19th ranked offense in the league, but they still score the 4th most points per game this season (28.8) and are coming off a bye week. Call it a hunch, but I think Jameis Winston will be in sync for this one.
Joanne Kong’s Picks
Joanne’s Thoughts:
Carolina Panthers (4-2) @ San Francisco 49ers (6-0)
It’s going to be a tough road ahead for the Carolina Panthers in week 8. Coming off a bye-week, the Panthers will be hosted by a 49ers team that seems destined to take the NFC. The Panthers are 4-0 with backup quarterback Kyle Allen, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals. The four defenses Allen faced were among the worst in the league defending the pass.
The 49ers defense is 4th in defending the run, allowing only an average of 90 yards per game, and 1st in defending the pass, allowing an average of just 133.5 yards per game. So this will be a much more challenging test for Allen. But it’s not just Allen the 49ers need to be worried about, as Christian McCaffrey has been a beast, being 3rd in rush yards (618) and tied for 3rd in rushing touchdowns (7) along with his 305 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns.
In week 7, the 49ers did a good job in controlling the game in wet weather. Of course, it’s difficult to compare the 1-6 Washington Redskins to the Carolina Panthers.
The @49ers have allowed 98 pass yards in their last 2 games combined.
This is the 3rd-fewest pass yds allowed by the 49ers in a 2-game span in the Super Bowl era & the fewest in a 2-game span by the 49ers since Weeks 8-9, 1977 (62 pass yds).#GoNiners

While the 49ers defense has been playing great, the offense has been limited in their ability to move the ball. With the Panthers defense ranking 5th overall, Jimmy Garoppolo should expect a lot of pressure in trying to maintain his undefeated season.
FANTASY SCORING LEADERS: DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS

It should be a hard-fought game, but only on team will win. The 49ers are looking at an upset, and will get their first loss for the season.
Carolina Panthers Win.

George’s Picks
George’s Thoughts:
Had the best week of the group and hot on the trail of the top spot. Let’s go!
Philadelphia’s desperate but if they can get DeSean Jackson back this week they have the weapons to solve Buffalo’s tough defense. Eagles save there season on the road again.
Daniel Jones is struggling and Saquon Barkley is battling his ankle injury but Detroit is fool’s gold yet again and the Giants keep there season alive with a road upset. Kansas City won’t rule out Patrick Mahomes playing against Green Bay this week but they should stick with Matt Moore for 1 week. Andy Reid will do a great job preparing him and the Packers were fortunate not to be behind Oakland at halftime last week.
Didn’t pick any of these teams to win but think Carolina, Miami, Oakland and Cleveland will cover the spread and are all live upset chances.
