Believe it or not I’m still teary eyed about the Cubs winning the World Series, and no, I didn’t even notice we had a Presidential Election (unless it somehow impacts my fantasy football team, in which case, feel free to contact me and let me know).
I’m running a half marathon this week in Disney and have limited time, so analysis might be a bit short, but I wasn’t going to let you all down!
So here’s a slightly shorter than usual article, but it will still help you all win CASH in Week 10 of the 2016 NFL season!
Cash Games, for those who don’t know, are essentially the lowest risk games. They include “50/50” games, in which half the entrants win about 1.8x the entry fee, and “Double Ups”, in which slightly less than half the entrants win 2x the entry fee.
Since there’s so many different sites, and I can’t cover them all, I’ve decided to cover just the most popular sites, including Fan Duel, Draft Kings and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy.
First of all, as a general rule for 50/50 Cash Games, there’s a basic target of points per salary cap spent that you’d like to look for:
- For Fan Duel try to target at least 2 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
- For Draft Kings, try to target at least 2.5 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
- For Yahoo! Daily Fantasy, try to target at least 0.6-0.7 fantasy points per $1 spent.
Remember, this article is not focused on GPP (Tournament) Games, JUST Cash Games. Feel free to use a few of these suggested players as a base when constructing a GPP lineup, but you’ll have to take some chances on a few low cost, upside players as well.
So, without further to do, here are my suggestions for the Best Daily Fantasy Football Plays for Cash Games for Week 10 contests, along with they’re prices on Fan Duel (“FD”), Draft Kings (“DK”) and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy (“Y!”).
Quarterback
There’s plenty of QBs to pick from, but I don’t tend to take too many chances at QB for cash games because they’re so important for anchoring your team’s performance, so I’ll give you two “safe” choices, then one that is more of a gamble if you’d prefer to take chances on QB and spend money at the other positions.
Aaron Rodgers @ TEN (FD: $9000 / DK: $7600 / Y!: $39)
- Rodgers has 20 total passing TDs and 2 rushing TDs in 8 games this year, good for 3rd best and 4th best in the NFL. Add in the fact that this game has the second highest over/under of any Week 10 game at 49.5 and that all means lock in Rodgers at QB and move along.
Tom Brady vs. SEA (FD: $8300 / DK: $7400 / Y!: $39)
- Tom Brady has the most passing TDs per game (3) and the 3rd most passing yards per game (329.8) of any QB this year. He’s playing against the Seahawks in Week 10, which I discuss in the Week 10 NFL Picks article, but honestly, I just don’t care who he plays. He’s matchup proof until further notice, so add him to your lineup and don’t look back.
Carson Palmer vs. SF (FD: $7900 / DK: $6500 / Y!: $30)
- The 49ers defense has a decent pass rush and secondary making for a middle of the road pass defense, and are particularly succeptable to the run as they are last in run defense, so you’d expect to see a lot of work for RB David Johnson this weekend. But did you know that Johnson has the most targets (55) and most receiving yards of any RB in the NFL (407) this year? And guess who is passing the ball to Johnson? Yup, that would be Carson Palmer. And Palmer is no slouch himself as he has the 6th most passing yards per game (295.4) and the 5th most passing attempts (40.3) and completions per game (25.3) of any QB this year. If you need to save a little cap space, Palmer is a guy worth considering.
Dak Prescott @ PIT (FD: $7700 / DK: $6100 / Y!: $33)
- In the last 6 games, Prescott has had at least 220 passing yards and 2 total TDs. And now he gets to face a bottom 10 Pittsburgh Steelers passing defense tied with the highest over/under of the week at 50 as 2.5 point dogs, meaning there should be plenty of catch up scoring. As I’ve mentioned, Prescott presents a nice floor with upside and a reasonable price if you want to spend more at other positions.
Running Back
As usual, RB is a position where I want some “guaranteed” volume. And by that, I mean we need 10+ touches to even be considered.
David Johnson vs. SF (FD: $9400 / DK: $8400 / Y!: $41)
- In addition to everything I said about Johnson above when I discussed Carson Palmer, Johnson also has the 4th most rushing yards per game (88.1) plus he has the 3rd most rushing TDs per game (1) of any RB in the NFL. The only question is if you can afford him.
Ezekiel Elliot @ PIT (FD: $8900 / DK: $7900 / Y!: $39)
- Do I really need to break this down? Ezekiel Elliot has had the most carries per game (22.1) and rushing yards per game (111.4) of any RB in the NFL this season. The Steelers have a better run defense than pass defense, but do you really care? Another lock if you have the cap space.
Matt Forte vs. LA (FD: $7100 / DK: $6100 / Y!: $26)
- Matt Forte has now had back to back to back solid weeks in Week 7, Week 8, and Week 9 totaling 274 rush yards, 75 receiving yards and 5 total TDs. Plus, the Rams are more vulnerable via the ground than the air.
Jordan Howard @ TB (FD: $6900 / DK: $6000 / Y!: $27)
- Coming off over 200 total yards and a TD before the bye, Howard has re-cemented his place atop the RB depth chart in the revitalized Bears offense. Tampa Bay is a bottom 10 run defense, so go ahead and fire him up.
Jonathan Stewart vs. KC (FD: $6800 / DK: $4900 / Y!: $25)
- Stewart has been disappointing off the bye, but did have back-to-back 2 TD performances before the bye. Kansas City has a solid defense, but their run defense is bottom 5 in the league and vulnerable to the big play.
Ty Montgomery @ TEN (FD: $6200 / DK: $6500-WR / Y!: $22-WR)
- Montgomery has solidified his place as the lead RB in Green Bay, partially due to a dearth of options once Lacy and Starks were injured, but also due to some solid performances. Plus he’s had 28 targets over his last 3 games. RB PLUS WR in one player? Yes, please. And he qualifies as a WR on Draft Kings and Yahoo Daily Fantasy!
Wide Receivers
Remember, in DFS, you not only want yards, you want receptions, though its more valuable in Draft Kings, which is a full PPR, than FanDuel, which is a half PPR. So with that in mind, here’s my thoughts for WR plays.
Antonio Brown vs. DAL (FD: $8600 / DK: $8900 / Y!: $35)
- Big Ben is back, but was shakey. But I don’t care, Brown always finds a way. Don’t overthink this and slot him in if you have the cash.
Alshon Jeffery @ TB (FD: $7200 / DK: $6600 / Y!: $27)
- Cutler coming back was good for Jeffery. And Tampa Bay is also vulnerable over the air.
Emmanuel Sanders @ NO (FD: $6900 / DK: $6800 / Y!: $23)
- As I mentioned, Trevor Siemian and the Denver Broncos have gone conservative on offense, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of another favorable matchup. The Saints are the worst pass defense in the league. Sanders has at least 8 targets in all but 1 game this year and has at least 80 yards in 4. With the matchup, I like Sanders for the price, but have no problem with taking Demaryius Thomas (FD: $7500 / DK: $6700 / Y!: $23) who has had 10 targets in each of the last 4 weeks.
Other WRs to consider with good matchup/value:
- Mike Evans vs. CHI (FD: $8500 / DK: $9000 / Y!: $40)
- Larry Fitzgerald vs. SF (FD: $7200 / DK: $7600 / Y!: $32)
- Stefon Diggs @WAS (FD: $6700 / DK: $6200 / Y!: $25)
- Tyrell Williams vs. MIA (FD: $5900 / DK: $5700 / Y!: $18)
- Tyreek Hill @ CAR (FD: $4700 / DK: $3800 / Y!: $17)
Tight Ends
Rob Gronkowski vs. SEA (FD: $8000 / DK: $6900 / Y!: $29)
- Gronk is always an option, I don’t care who he plays. #Analysis.
Greg Olsen vs. KC (FD: $7200 / DK: $5900 / Y!: $23)
- Greg Olsen has the second most targets per game (8.8) and most yards per game (84.1) of any TE in the NFL this year. The Chiefs defense is solid but really, Olsen is essentially matchup proof.
Jimmy Graham @ NE (FD: $6700 / DK: $5300 / Y!: $20)
- Jimmy Graham really broke out in Week 9 with 8 receptions for 103 yards and 2 TDs. In fact, Pro Football Focus called it one of the top 10 performances in the NFL this year so far. Graham is back against a potentially suspect Patriots defense after trading away Jamie Collins.
Travis Kelce @ CAR (FD: $6300 / DK: $5600 / Y!: $22)
- With Jeremy Maclin ruled out and facing a Panthers defense that loves to give up yards and points to opposing TEs, Kelce has some significant upside after coming alive with 12 receptions for 159 yards and a TD over the last two games.
Zach Miller @ TB (FD: $5400 / DK: $3600 / Y!: $19)
- Miller came back to life with Cutler’s return and snagged 7 of 10 targets for 88 yards. I’ve already said Tampa Bay has a terrible pass defense, and I don’t see why Miller doesn’t continue to see volume targets.
Defenses
Arizona Cardinals vs SF (FD: $5200 / DK: $3700 / Y!: $20)
- I don’t take chances on defense because the prices are so close, so just lock in the Cardinals this week. San Francisco isn’t good. Analysis over.
