Typically, as you know if you follow my column, I’d give you a bunch of options at each position with an explanation. But seeing as how I already helped you win DFS cash on the Thanksgiving slate, and it IS a HOLIDAY after all, I’m going to streamline this week’s article.
I’m going to give you my favorite cash lineups for FanDuel, Draft Kings, and Yahoo! DFS, and I’ll also note a few others you might consider for your lineups.
So without further to do, let’s get to winning you some CASH in Week 12 of the 2016 NFL season!
Cash Games, for those who don’t know, are essentially the lowest risk games. They include “50/50” games, in which half the entrants win about 1.8x the entry fee, and “Double Ups”, in which slightly less than half the entrants win 2x the entry fee.
Since there’s so many different sites, and I can’t cover them all, I’ve decided to cover just the most popular sites, including Fan Duel, Draft Kings and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy.
First of all, as a general rule for 50/50 Cash Games, there’s a basic target of points per salary cap spent that you’d like to look for:
- For Fan Duel try to target at least 2 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
- For Draft Kings, try to target at least 2.5 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
- For Yahoo! Daily Fantasy, try to target at least 0.6-0.7 fantasy points per $1 spent.
Remember, this article is not focused on GPP (Tournament) Games, JUST Cash Games. Feel free to use a few of these suggested players as a base when constructing a GPP lineup, but you’ll have to take some chances on a few low cost, upside players as well.
So, without further to do, here are my suggestions for the Best Daily Fantasy Football Plays for Cash Games for Week 12 contests, along with they’re prices on Fan Duel (“FD”), Draft Kings (“DK”) and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy (“Y!”).
FanDuel
As you can probably tell, I’m a fan of both Russell Wilson and Derek Carr this week at QB. Both have terrific matchups, have been doing great over the last couple weeks, and are priced significantly lower than other “elite” QB options.
You’ll also notice that since AJ Green is out this week, I’m a fan of some cheap Bengals pass catching options to free up some cap space, like Brandon LaFell and Tyler Boyd. I picked LaFell on FanDuel because of price, but actually prefer Boyd a little bit more, which I why I chose him over LaFell on Yahoo where the prices are the same. On Draft Kings, Boyd is much cheaper, making him an even better value. You’ll also notice that I like Tyler Eifert at TE, primarily because he’s the one remaining weapon left that I know Andy Dalton likes to target.
David Johnson is a beast, and is my favorite RB this week if you have cap space. He has the 3rd most rushing yards (863), 3rd most rushing TDs (10) and most receiving yards (510) of any RB in the NFL this year. Plus the Atlanta Falcons have given up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing RBs.
Thomas Rawls is a great value play at RB, in my book. With C.J. Prosise out due to injury, and Christine Michael dumped and laching on in Green Bay, there really isn’t anyone threatening Rawls carries this week. He had his first game back from injury last week and look solid, so there’s no reason to expect that he won’t be able to handle a full load this week.
You also note that love two defenses this week, the Buffalo Bills against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Miami Dolphins against the San Francisco 49ers. Both the Jags and 49ers are turnover prone, and the Bills and Dolphins have been solid in recent weeks, so I just pick the one that is cheaper per site.
Draft Kings
On Draft Kings, you’ll note that I took Jay Ajayi over David Johnson. The reason is simply price plus a great matchup, as the San Francisco 49ers have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing RBs this year.
You’ll also note that I used Melvin Gordon on Draft Kings. Again, I think he’s a solid value with a very high usage rate, having the 2nd most carries (217) of any RB this year. Plus, the Houston Texan have a solid pass defense, but an exploitable run defense, so I’d expect Gordon to get plenty of run this week.
As for C.J. Fiedorowicz, well, he’s a huge target monster since no one likes to check down more that Brock Osweiler. He’s averaging around 5 receptions a week, which is a big deal for a full PPR site like Draft Kings. Plus his ultra low price gives you room to spend elsewhere.
Yahoo! DFS
Tyrell Pryor remains the number one WR option in Cleveland, particularly with Josh McCown taking over under center, as McCown has no fear going down field. Plus, the Browns are likely to fall behind early, requiring them to take to the air plenty.
Brandon Marshall has a similar story to Pryor, as his buddy Ryan Fitzpatrick takes over under center for the Jets this week. Playing New England means you’ll have to pass a lot to stay competitive, so Marshall should see plenty of action.
Alternative Options
Feel free to use any of the players that I’ve selected on one site in any other site if you have cap space.
In addition, you’re welcome to use:
- QB Tom Brady @ NYJ (FD: $9100 / DK: $7800 / Y!: $40)
- QB Marcus Mariota @ CHI (FD: $8300 / DK: $7200 / Y!: $35)
- WR Sterling Shepard @ CLE (FD: $6100 / DK: $5500 / Y!: $20)
- TE Jimmy Graham @ TB (FD: $6900 / DK: $5300 / Y!: $21)
- TE Martellus Bennett @ NYJ (FD: $5500 / DK: $4500 / Y!: $18) assuming Rob Gronkowski remains sidelined.
- UPDATE – Looks like Rob Gronkowski is going to play. If so, I would avoid both Gronk and Bennett in DFS.
After missing last week's game, #Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (lung) is expected back vs. the #Jets, sources say. This was the hope all along.
