“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene 2022 Week 7 NFL Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 5 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 7 Games

Ha Kung’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 64.7% record for the season, so that’s seven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Plus, I had a 75.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 58% record on Upsets of the Week.  I had my first rough week going 6-8 in Week 6, but I’m still off to a solid start with a total of total of 59-34 for the season (63.4%), 4-2 for Locks of Week, and 3-3 for Upsets of the Week.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 7…

Lock of the Week Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-11.0) over Carolina Panthers

The Buccaneers failed me last somehow finding a way to lose to the lowly Steelers even after Kenny Pickett went out and Mitchell Trubisky came in.  Tom Brady has to seething about that as well as his likely divorce from Giselle, so I don’t think they’ll lose another one with floundering Panthers who don’t have a coach or a QB at the momenr.  Don’t over think it.  Lock it in.

Upset of the Week New York Jets (+1.5) over Denver Broncos

They used to say “In Russ We Trust” but I think it’s more “In Russ We Bust” at this point.  Blame it on injuries, coaching, being over the hill, I don’t care, whatever they’re trying to do in Denver isn’t working.  The Jets on the other hand are playing absolutely tip top complimentary football, with defense, special teams and solid ground game on the back of rookie Breece Hall getting it done (and surprisingly getting them past the Packers).  The Jets are trending up and the Broncos are trending down, so I like the Jets to pull off the upset this week.

Joanne’s Picks

Joanne’s Thoughts:

The New York Giants won 24-20 against the Baltimore Ravens, need I say more. I’m picking the Jacksonville Jaguars to win. I can’t say anything more on the matter.

NOTE: Joanne has changed her pick from PIT to MIA for Sunday Night Football.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Last week was abysmal so let’s get back on track.

Indianapolis at Tennessee: Is that momentum I see for the Colts? Why yes it is. One problem, Derrick Henry usually tears that defense to pieces and the Titans have dominated this series in Mike Vrabel’s time in Nashville. This is no different.

N.Y. Giants at Jacksonville: Vegas doesn’t believe in the Giants, they are 5-1 and an underdog. Most of the general public doesn’t believe it either. Jags should’ve won in Indianapolis and have this annoying knack for getting into winning positions but not finishing the games off (at Washington, at Indianapolis). And that’s why I am going with the Giants. Because they’ve shown the ability to finish games and overcome deficits in the 4th quarter.

Kansas City at San Francisco: Toughest game to pick on the board and with Garappolo back at QB an almost identical rematch to the epic Super Bowl between the two. Did the 49er defense just have a bad week or did Atlanta figure something out that other teams can exploit. Mahomes was controlled by the Bills defense last week, can the 49ers fearsome defensive front do something similar. Like the Super Bowl this will be a great game and like that game the result will be a narrow Chiefs win.

Eliminator: Tampa Bay knocked me out last week which ironically makes them the best choice this week if you are still alive. Dallas is a close second.
