“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene 2022 Week 1 NFL Picks

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 5 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 1 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 64.7% record for the season, so that’s seven years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Plus, I had a 75.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 58% record on Upsets of the Week.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 1…

Lock of the Week ➡ Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) over New York Jets

It’s tough to pick a lock in Week 1, as we haven’t gotten a good full-game look at any starting 53 yet.  But the Ravens are going to contend for the playoffs while the Jets, well, are the Jets.  They’ve certainly improved in the off season, but Zach Wilson is likely to be out until Week 4, meaning the Jets will have to start Joe Flacco against the Ravens.  I love a good narrative as much as anyone else, but Flacco today is not Flacco from the Super Bowl champion Ravens and I don’t see him pulling off the upset.  Lock it in.

Upset of the Week ➡ Minnesota Vikings (+1.5) over Green Bay Packers

As much as I hate to admit it, Aaron Rodgers is certainly one of the top QBs in the history of the NFL.  But he’s now lost his top weapon in Davante Adams and replaced him with essentially no one.  And on the Vikings side, the offense returns intact with Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen and Kirk Cousins.  Plus, they’ll be play at home in Minnesota.  It’ll be close, but I like the Vikings to get the upset.

We learned nothing in the preseason. Lots of questions to be answered this week. The rams and the bills open the season and the Rams will win. However, this is my Super Bowl matchup a a the Bills will win that game. Here we go.
