“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene Super Bowl LVI Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head-to-head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 7 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Ha Kung Wong’s Pick

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 68.1% record for the season, so that’s six years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  After splitting the picks in the Divisional Round Playoffs, I’m still at a solid 181-100 (64.4%) on the year.  Last year, I had an 87.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 50% record on Upsets of the Week.  And after also splitting these picks last week, we end the year with 65% (13-7) on my Locks and 65% (13-7) on my Upsets this year.  Although solid, not as good with locks this year (though we had some seriously big upsets this season) but really rocked it with the Upsets.

George’s Thoughts:

Cincinnati at L.A. Rams: Let me put my cards on the table here. I will be cheering for the Bengals as much as possible. They are a turnaround story that gives me a Commanders fan hope. And Joe Burrow is a marvel, and the Bengals run has been fun to watch. But there are significant problems that need to be solved for them to win.

Problem 1: the Bengals ability to block the Rams front. We all saw them surrender 9 sacks against the Titans. They can’t do that and win. So how does Cincinnati keep Burrow upright or neutralize that pass rush. I haven’t heard a good answer on that from anyone.

Problem 2: Kicking too many field goals. Yes “Money Mac” Evan McPherson is the new stud kicker and his tricks have gone viral and that’s great. But you have to score touchdowns in the red zone to win in the Super Bowl and Cincinnati’s not doing it. How do they become more efficient in that area because if they are kicking 3 or 4 field goals in this game it will be hard to win.

The other thing Cincinnati has to do is take advantage of the turnover chances Matt Stafford will give them. And Stafford will give them chances. We can’t have a Jaquiski Tartt moment in the Super Bowl.

I really want to pick Cincinnati. But I can’t do it. And as much of an L as I will take if the Rams win, I think they get the Lombardi trophy by winning 27-17.
