By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 7 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 18 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 68.1% record for the season, so that’s six years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Currently, I’m at a solid 165-90 (64.7%) on the year.  Last year, I had an 87.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 50% record on Upsets of the Week.  So far I’m 70.6% (12-5) on my Locks and 58.8% (10-7) on my Upsets this year, so we’re still on track.

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 17…

Lock of the Week Indianapolis Colts (-15.5) over Jacksonville Jaguars

The Colts need to win this week to make the playoffs, and, lucky for them, only the pitiful Jaguars stand in the way.  I’m not sure I want to take the 15.5-point spread as the Colts are likely not to risk all their starters in advance of their playoff appearance after they’re up big, but they’ll certainly get up by 3 scores before starting to pull the plug.  The Jaguars defense has allowed the second most points to opposing teams per game (27.9) of any team in the NFL this season, and I don’t see why that wouldn’t continue into Week 18.  Lock in the Colts.

Upset of the Week Pittsburgh Steelers (+5.5) over Baltimore Ravens

I talk about this in the podcast earlier this week and I stand by it in this upset pick.  The Steelers need to win to have an outside chance at the playoffs, and Ben Roethlisberger will be playing his final regular season game for the Steelers, and likely the last regular season game of his career, so I think the Steelers will be playing extra hard to get him there.  And how will they do that?  Well, the Ravens allow the MOST passing yards (281.7) while allowing the LEAST rushing yards (84.8) per game this season of any team in the NFL.  Ben couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to go out on top.  I’m picking the Steelers in an upset.

Scott King’s Picks

Scott’s Thoughts:

Only one team has their position locked up, which is rare. With the new schedule setup we’ll have division matchups happening at the same time. This really reduces the impact of teams locking up or being eliminated before kickoff. This helps with picks and fantasy for this week. Trying to stay out of the cellar.
