Without further to do, here we go:

Wild Card Weekend Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 68.1% record for the season, so that’s six years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Currently, I’m at a solid 173-98 (63.8%) on the year.  Last year, I had an 87.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 50% record on Upsets of the Week.  So far I’m 66.7% (12-6) on my Locks and 61.1% (11-7) on my Upsets this year, so we’re still on track.

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Wild Card Weekend…

Lock of the Week Kansas City Chiefs (-12.5) over Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers played well down the stretch but were lucky to make the playoffs after the Chargers mysteriously took a timeout in overtime apparently forcing the Raiders to run another play, kick a field goal and break the tie.  But now the Steeler get to face the Kansas City Chiefs, who although are not the 1 seed, are likely the favorites to make the Super Bowl from the AFC.  The Steelers 25th ranked defense is going to have trouble containing a Chiefs offense that’s put up the 3rd most total yards (396.8) and the 4th most points (28.2) per game of any team in the NFL this season.  Yes, there’s the whole “Big Ben’s last ride” narrative, but no narrative is good enough to overcome the talent in Kansas City.  Lock in the Chiefs.

Upset of the Week San Francisco 49ers (+3.0) over Dallas Cowboys

49ers allow the 3rd least yards per game (310.0) but the Cowboys are the most opportunistic defense in the league with 34 takeaways.  Overall, though, the 49ers defense is ranked 4th while the Cowboys defense is just 20th.  The Cowboys have been on heater winning 5 of their last 7 games, but those wins came against the lowly Giants, Washington twice, an undermanned Saints team and the Eagles backups, with losses to the only two quality teams they played, the Raiders and the Cardinals.  Perhaps the numbers don’t complete support it, but I see the 49ers stealing this one in Dallas.

Scott’s Thoughts:

Playoffs are here, always a tough time. All these teams have a weakness, should be interesting.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Las Vegas at Cincinnati: Raiders do have the experience advantage and credit to them for finding a way to make the playoffs. But they have to emotionally and physically be running on fumes. If Joe Burrow and JaMarr Chase are the next Joe Montana to Jerry Rice there legend begins here.

New England at Buffalo: Mac Jones got exposed in the second matchup between the two. A rookie QB in awful weather in one of the craziest environments in football. No chance. Bills roll.

Philadelphia at Tampa Bay: Very few are giving the Eagles a chance but they are a great running team and get Miles Sanders back. And the Bucs run defense has dropped off in the second half of the season. Tampa Bay survives in the first close game of the weekend.

San Francisco at Dallas: Cowboys routed the Eagles backups and overrated Washington but has struggled outside of those games the last 6 weeks. And here comes Kyle Shanahan and the most varied rushing attack in football. Here’s your road winner this weekend.

Pittsburgh at Kansas City: The Steelers have no business being in the playoffs and the Chiefs are the best team in the NFL right now. The Chiefs should retire Ben Roethlisberger like the Jaguars did Dan Marino. This is the biggest blowout of the weekend.
Arizona at L.A. Rams: Who do I trust least. Matt Stafford, the overrated QB who is good enough to break your heart. Or Kliff Kingsbury who Cardinals flopped in December for the second year running. I trust Kingsbury less. But of all the games on the board I have the least confidence in the Rams.
