“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene 2021 Week 9 NFL Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 7 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 9 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 68.1% record for the season, so that’s six years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I got back on track with 15 of 16 in Week 6 and with a solid performance in Week 8 am back on top and sitting at a healthy 81-41 (66.4%) on the year.  Last year, I had a 87.5% record on Locks of the Week and a 50% record on Upsets of the Week.  So far I’m 87.5% (7-1) on my Locks and 62.5% (5-3) on my Upsets this year, so it looks like we’re well on track.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

Let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 9…

Lock of the Week Buffalo Bills (-14.5) over Jacksonville Jaguars

The Bills have the 6th most yards (402.9) and the most points (32.7) per game this season.  Josh Allen looks near unstoppable at the moment and the Jaguars did not improve in the least over their bye week.  The Jags have the 6th least points (17.6) per game this season and I don’t see that improving against the best defense in the NFL.  I know it seems obvious, but lock in the Bills this week.

Upset of the Week Green Bay Packers (+1) over Kansas City Chiefs

I didn’t pick an upset this week, but if their were one, I wouldn’t be surprised if it were the Packers over the Chiefs.  The Chief look totally out of sync and needed a last minute field goal to beat the cellar dweller New York Giants.  Mahomes is turning the ball over at an alarming rate (and got lucky the Giants jumped offside in his last drive of the evening, as it wiped out yet another INT), and the Packers defense is legit.  No Aaron Rodgers is a huge step down, but Davante Adams is back and Aaron Jones should easily shred the Chiefs defense.  I do think the Chiefs have enough to win this game, but if you’re looking for an upset, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this.

Joanne Kong’s Picks

Joanne’s Thoughts:

In week 8, up was down and square was round, getting only 5 correct picks. Arizona Cardinals had their first loss of the season. The New York Jets had an amazing win against the Cincinnati Bengals with quarterback Mike White in his first career start in the NFL.

New England Patriots beat the chargers, New Orleans defeated Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and an unrecognizable Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs eked out a win against the New York Giants…barely.

Blaming the unfathomable outcome of week 8 on Halloween, the NFL should make sense once again in week 9 with one caveat…

New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts. With Mike White starting as quarterback, the Thursday night game will show whether White is the real deal or just a guy who had a great game.

Mike White is 11% owned in Yahoo Fantasy. How many are brave enough to put him in the QB spot?

Scott King’s Picks

Scott’s Thoughts:

Last place, it’s a complete embarrassment this season. I just can’t catch a break.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

Had two good weeks in a row and let’s keep the momentum going by saying that the Browns will get their season back on track by beating the Bengals.

New Orleans lost Jameis Winston but they managed to beat Atlanta twice with Taysom Hill at QB, they will do so with Trevor Simian, Hill or whoever.

There’s a lot of talk about the Patriots and Mac Jones and how well he’s playing. The Panthers’ defense will put a stop to that.

Baltimore’s had the week off and Kirk Cousins returned to normal last week against Dallas. Things will not go well for the ex-Washington QB this week either.
