“Pick ‘Em or Kick ‘Em”™: FGT VS. Urban Sports Scene Week 10 NFL Picks

By the Football Garbage Time Staff

If you followed last year, you won over 60% of your picks, and we aim to do even better this year.

And if you’ve been following us, you know that we here at Football Garbage Time have gone head to head against Wally, Will and Ray at Urban Sports Scene on our NFL Picks for the last 4 seasons.  Why?  Because they’re awesome competitors, they KNOW their sports, and, heck, they’re just good guys!  This year we’ll have their picks up right HERE, so keep it tuned in, to both us and them, because we’ll be picking all season all long.

Without further to do, here we go:

Week 10 Games

Ha Kung Wong’s Picks

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

Last year I ended up with a 64.7% record for the season, so that’s five years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  Plus, I had a 88.2% record on Locks of the Week and a 64.7% record on Upsets of the Week.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan on stopping now!

We had a solid Week 9 going 9-5, leaving us at 91-41 for the season (68.9%), which is still pretty darn good.  I’m also rolling with 7-2 (77.7%) for Locks of the Week and 5-4 (55.5%) for Upsets of the Week.  But I’ve got plenty of work to do, so let’s get to that Lock (for Survivor Leagues) and Upset for Week 10…

Lock of the Week Green Bay Packers (-13.0) over Jacksonville Jaguars

Well, the Jets are on bye so time to turn elsewhere.  And don’t get me wrong, Jake Luton looked much better in Week 9 than I ever expected, so I’m not saying the Jags are horrible.  But the truth of the matter is that the Jaguars defense is the WORST defense in the NFL per DVOA.  Match that up against Aaron Rodgers and the 2nd best offense in the NFL per DVOA, and now 100% healthy with Aaron Jones and Davante Adams, and t doesn’t take a genius to figure out how that’ll work out.  Don’t over think it.  Lock the Packers in.

Upset of the Week Los Angeles Chargers (+2.5) over Miami Dolphins

Justin Herbert has been a revelation for the Chargers.  He now has the 3rd most passing yards per game (306.6) and 4th most TDs per game at 2.43 of any QB in the NFL.  If there’s one thing the 11th ranked Chargers offense can do, it’s score.  Unfortunately, they were just a little short in Week 9, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get it done.  The Dolphins are also on a heater, but primarily due to their defense.  Tua has had one good game and one bad one so far, and without Myles Gaskins, I don’t have any confidence in the Miami ground game.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Chargers finally hold on to a lead and pull off an upset.

Scott’s Thoughts:

Last week was horrible.  It was an embarrassment  Hope to come back this week.  The knock out is Houston.

George’s Picks

George’s Thoughts:

I’ll start with Arizona who cost me the best week in the group when their kicker was somehow short on a 46-yard FG that would’ve tied the game against Miami. Now they face Buffalo in a huge game for both teams’ playoff prospects.

Buffalo’s offense roared to life against Seattle’s awful defense last week but the Cardinals have a better defense than that and will bounce back to beat the Bills.

Upsets: If the Giants were going for their fifth consecutive win (and they are 2 or 3 plays away from winning 4 straight) would be they underdogs at home to the Eagles? No. Philly is usually good off a bye but the Giants plain and simple choked away the first meeting between the two They won’t do so this time.

The Seahawks are hamstrung by their poor defense but Russell Wilson will find his tonic by targeting whoever Jalen Ramsey isn’t covering. And Jared Goff isn’t good enough to take full advantage of Seattle’s problems. Seahawks bounce back.

Others: If Stafford plays Detroit will win and maybe even handily. If it’s former Washington QB Chase Daniel then it becomes a tossup.

The Colts really aren’t that good and Tennessee should be far more than a 2-point favorite. Titans roll and put a hammer lock on the AFC South.

Survivor pick: If you’ve taken the Packers already then take the Saints even though it’s a classic letdown spot for them against battered San Francisco.
