Philadelphia Eagles

According to Walterfootball.com NFL power rankings, the team to watch this year is the Philadelphia Eagles. The addition of Michael Bennett and Haloti Ngata was designed to make the defense stronger, but Bennett may have to forego playing as his court trial in Texas for pushing a paraplegic security guard has now been delayed until August 7. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in jail. Meanwhile, the addition of wide receiver Mike Wallace to the team should help improve the team’s odds of winning the Super Bowl.

New Orleans Saints

While many still question New Orleans surprising moves during the last NFL draft, the team has added some wonderful talent during the offseason making them a strong contender to get to the Super Bowl. During Organized Team Activities, Cameron Meredith showed that he is ready to play under Coach Curtis Johnson again, and he may have another great year like he did in 2016. The Saints also welcomes back Patrick Robinson and welcomes linebacker Demario Davis.

New England Patriots

Many scratched their heads when the Patriots lost running back Dion Lewis, offensive tackle Nate Solder, offensive tackle Cameron Fleming and defensive back Malcolm Butler to free agency. The team did trade for defensive tackle Danny Shelton and cornerback Jason McCourty, so the offense may be as strong as last season. Just like last season, however, the trick for this team will be protecting quarterback Tom Brady.

Houston Texans

According to Walter Cherepinsky’s NFL Power Rankings, one of the top NFL analysis sites, the man who runs one of the top NFL analysis sites waterfootball.com, the fourth team to watch this year is the Houston Texans. This team struggled last year after J.J. Watt got hurt, but that gave him a full season to rest his knee and back. It would appear that he is back stronger than ever. Outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus seems ready to go. Defensive back Tyrann Mathieu reportedly turned down more money from the Cardinals to play at Houston, and the team managed to sign defensive back Aaron Colvin during the off-season.

Carolina Panthers

As Walterfootball.com who has a monthly readership of more than 29 million people points out the Carolina Panthers overcame many key players getting hurt to finish 11 and 5 last season. They had an outstanding 2018 NFL draft allowing them to pick up wide receiver D.J. Moore who some say was the best at his position in the Big Ten, and the team was also able to secure former Louisiana State University cornerback Donte Jackson.
