As I mentioned last week, I like nothing more than helping all of you make solid waiver pickups in your Fantasy Football league and have some part in your championship run.  That’s just the type of guy I am.  You’re welcome.  Again.

So let’s get on with it with fantasy football pickups for Week 7!

As usual, all pickups are available in at least 50% of Yahoo standard fantasy football leagues (with some minor exceptions) as of Sunday evening.

Josh McCown

QB – New York Jets – 12% Owned

Yes, I know.  Many of us have been fooled by Josh McCown before.  But you can’t ignore the fact that the Jets offense are better than you thought, and that McCown is leading that offense and averaging 31.6 pass attempts per game.  And it all continued this week, as McCown completed 17 of 27 passes for 209 yards, three TDs and an INT this week, adding a rushing TD.  That’s 3 consecutive multi-TD games.  I can’t believe I’m saying this, but if you need a bye week replacement in 12-team leagues or deeper, or are desperate because you lost Carson Palmer, Aaron Rodgers, or are sick of waiting for Andrew Luck to come back, you could do worse than McCown.

Matt Moore

QB – Miami Dolphins – 1% Owned

Well, first Ryan Tannehill, and now Jay Cutler.  Yup, the Dolphins can’t seem to catch a break as Cutler suffered cracked ribs in Week 7 and is now out 2-3 weeks.  Or perhaps this was the “break” they were looking for?

Matt Moore stepped in and immediately threw an INT, but then went on to complete 13 of 21 passes for 188 yards and two TDs to lead the Dolphins to a comeback win over the Jets.  Moore has done this before when he subbed for Tannehill last season, so there’s no reason to think he can’t keep it going, at least in the short term.  Feel free to give him a look in 14-team leagues or deeper, or in any 2 QB leagues.

Jordan Matthews

WR – Buffalo Bills – 30% Owned

Sure, he just got back from injury and essentially did nothing.  But we all know he’s better than this, and it’s not like Tyrod Taylor has a ton of reliable passing options.  He’s worth a speculative stash in 14-Team leagues and deeper.

Marquise Goodwin

WR – San Francisco 49ers – 3% Owned

Last week, I recommended C.J. Beathard for those desperate for a QB in deep leagues.  And although he’s not necessarily a super star, and had a rough start against the Cowboys, he did manage to move the ball.  And his favorite target was Marquise Goodwin.  Goodwin led all WRs with 8 targets, catching 4 of them for 80 yards.  Beathard will continue to have growing pains, and Pierre Garcon isn’t going anywhere, but Goodwin could be a good speculative stash for those in need of a bye week replacement in 14-team leagues or deeper.

Josh Doctson

WR – Washington Redskins – 13% Owned

So, it looks like Terrelle Pryor is a bust.  He played only 30 snaps on Monday Night Football, and almost all his production was late in the game.  Josh Doctson, on the other hand, played 54 snaps and managed to catch 3 of 5 targets for 39 yards.  It doesn’t sound like much, but he got the start, was only out snapped by Jamison Crowder (58 plays), and coach Jay Gruden stated after the game that the Redskins “drafted Josh to be the No. 1 guy” and “[n]ow that he’s healthy, we want to see what he can do.”  If that isn’t a clear indication that Doctson is now at least the number 2 guy in an offense which will continue to turn to the air when moving the ball, I don’t know what is.  Worth a speculative stash in 12-team leagues and deeper.

And here are previous pickups I’ve mentioned that are still worthy of your consideration:
