Week 12 Picks - HKW

Ha Kung’s Thoughts:

As I mention every week, copy my picks and you can thank me later.  I’m still in the lead with 98-62 for the season.  So if you like winning, I think I can help.

The most interesting game for me this week is the New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos.

Honestly, although the Patriots have been mostly unstoppable in their bid for regular season perfection, it hasn’t come as easily as I once thought it would.  Tom Brady has had a significant shake up in his receiving core with Dion Lewis and Julian Edelman out, followed by Danny Amendola in Week 11 with a knee injury.  Arguably, Amendola will make his way back on the field sooner rather than later, and Brandon LaFell has shaken most of the rust off since returning from injury, but we’re still looking at a slightly hamstrung Patriots offense.

However, New England’s defense is quietly doing its job, allowing the least amount of points per week to opposing offenses in the NFL (18.2).  Of course, the defense allowing the second least amount of points per week to opposing offenses is Denver (18.3), so the Pats will certainly have their hands full.  Bill Belichick is one of the best in the league when it comes to getting the most from what personnel he has, and game planning for specific teams, so I don’t think New England loses it’s streak here, but I do think it will be a lot closer than one might expect.

Brock Osweiler

Brock Osweiler

The Broncos started the season strong on the back of it’s mostly dominant defense, but have been vulnerable of late, barely pulling out a win against the Chicago Bears in Week 11.  Regardless of the last couple of games, the Broncos still are the number one defense in the NFL in terms of limiting yards from opposing offenses per game (284.3), and is particularly effective in limiting opposing quarterbacks (only 190.6 passing yards allowed per game).

On the other side of the ball, with Brock Osweiler getting more reps with the offense, seeing as how Peyton Manning is out with injury for at least the next two weeks, I’m positive the Broncos will start moving the ball again.  Importantly, Osweiler did not have a single turnover in his first NFL start.  But with Emmanuel Sanders potentially out again with a high ankle sprain, it will fall on Owen Daniels, Vernon Davis and Cody Latimer to help move the chains as short yardage targets for Osweiler’s conservative offense.

I don’t think we see a high scoring game this week, but I do believe the Pats continue undefeated after Week 12.

Scott King’s Picks

Week 12 Picks - Scott

Scott’s Thoughts:

Another terrible week as expected.  I could tell things weren’t going to go great the last two weeks and I still went with my picks.  I’m one week from going “opposites” the rest of the way.  The Lions pulled off another victory and didn’t look terrible in the process.  They still aren’t a great NFL franchise but they are trying, I give them that much.  I’m going with them again this week with the big Thanksgiving Day upon us.  The Eagles are struggling and I can’t take Sanchize over Stafford.  The Lions have a lot to do this offseason but for now they aren’t giving up.

The Panthers game at Dallas will be very interesting.  This should have been a matchup of potential NFC Championship teams, but the Cowboys have a long road ahead of them.  I still think they can make the playoffs.

Joanne Kong’s Picks

Week 12 Picks 2 - JHK

Joanne’s Thoughts:

Being in last place, there is only three things I can say about my week 12 picks:

1.       Giants win.

2.       Patriots lose.

3.       HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Jason Johnson’s Picks

Ryan Whitfield’s Picks

Week 12 picks - Ryan

Ryan’s Thoughts:

Finally the bye weeks are over and we have a full 16 game slate and of course three games Thursday.

The Cowboys get up for their annual Turkey Day game and take down the undefeated Panthers in a big win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Minnesota has to win a semi-marquee road game at some point, right?  Minnesota 24 – Atlanta 21.

Apparently Indianapolis can’t win with Luck and can’t lose with the former BC starter Hasselbeck at the helm. Colts take down the Bucs.

Houston wins again against New Orleans and the AFC South starts to actually become interesting.

The Patriots beat the Broncos in a defensive, sloberknocker, ugly battle: 21-17.
